Melandri To Ducati: All But Official

By Kropotkin | Wed, 18/07/2007 - 13:21

A move which has been rumored for a very long time looks like coming to fruition after the US Grand Prix at Laguna Seca. According to the Italian site GPOne.com, Marco Melandri will officially sign with Ducati after Laguna Seca, as he still has a condition open in the pre-agreement he signed with Ducati at the end of last year. Although Melandri eventually re-signed with Gresini Honda, this was only after Gresini matched Ducati's financial offer, as stipulated in the contract Melandri had with Ducati.

By Kropotkin | Tue, 17/07/2007 - 22:28

The key to success in motorcycle racing is control. Teams, engineers and riders spend hundreds of thousands of hours every year attempting to gain control of the minutest detail of motorcycle racing. Each part of the engine is weighed, balanced, analyzed and tested, even down to the bolts and washers holding the engine together. Frames, chassis, wheels, brakes and suspension are calibrated, adjusted, tuned and aligned. Riders run and cycle to gain aerobic fitness, work out with weights to gain muscular strength, and use sports psychologists to help them develop concentration and confidence.

2007 Sachsenring FP3 Times - Day 2

By Kropotkin | Sat, 14/07/2007 - 09:26

The weather has warmed up considerably at the Sachsenring, but no change at the top of the timesheet. Casey Stoner continued his terrifiying domination at the German track, over 3/10ths faster than his team mate, and big surprise, Loris Capirossi. Capirossi has been almost invisible for most of the sessions, and indeed, for most of the season, and with negotiations with Ducati stalled, needs a strong result to get his career back into gear. This looks like the first, tentative step on the way.
