Supersport 300 standings after race 1 in France:
World Supersport was nineteen laps with all the riders, apart from Huertas, Montella and van Straalen using the SC1 front and SCX rear tyres, with those three riders changing tyres at the last minute. Dominique Aegerter leads Lorenzo Badlassarri by fourteen points going into the race.
The weather finally decided to be warm, with 20ºC air and a cool 29ºC track. The twenty-one lap race would be contested with riders using similar tyre choices after missing a lot of the dry track time.
In spite of a bad crash in the morning's session at the 180 corner, Jonathan Rea was able to take part in the fifteen minute qualifying session on a rebuilt bike.
World Supersport qualifying was a dry session under black clouds.
In a dry session, Toprak Razgatlioglu topped the session ahead of the BMWs of Scott Redding and Loris Baz. Jonathan Rea crashed but was sixth fastest.
As the track dried out and times tumbled, Valentin Debise, a French wildcard, set the quickest time at the end of the session just pipping Federico Caricasulo to end the day on top.
With the track damp throughout the session, everyone was on equal footing and Jonathan Rea set the fastest lap ahead of Axel Bassani and Alex Lowes. Lowes was fastest overall on Friday with his early time in Free Practice 1 putting him on top.
This morning's rain abated before the World Supersport session, giving the riders a drying track to work with. At the end of the session, only the top ten riders qualified within 105% of the quickest time set by Adrian Huertas.
With only five minutes of dry track before the rain arrived, Alex Lowes set an early fast time to put himself at the top of the list, ahead of Michael Ruben Rinaldi and Toprak Razgatlioglu.
