^ This is a FUN lay of the land as we head to Europe eh?! Popcorn out.4th, 5th, 12th and 13th were the bookies favorites right?
Bastiannini, Rins, Aleix Espargaro?! Brilliant. Viva Lavendar. What have we Ivanhoe? Please tell us Cloverleaf is getting passed. Who is up front?
On to Europe indeed
Yesss
Historical moment, I've overtaken reigning champion Cloverleaf and taken the lead in the legendary MotoMatters Dreamteam Competition!
And this after a tough GP for my star rider Aleix Espargaro, and Marini and Bezzecchi leaving COTA empty-handed. I feel this stellar team has potential for even more in the coming races! (Just using my bragging rights while I can!)
And Ivanhoe, thanks for the much improved format! Maybe add a ranking number in front..? (Of course I really want to see that number 1 in front of my name, something that has never happened in my very modest racing 'career')
Thanks, Ivanhoe.
Thanks, Ivanhoe.

^ Pvalve, your picks were scoffed at when I saw them. I think an audible "nuts!" came out.
Whelp, hmm. Looking great!
I had a tough time picking between Martin and Bastiannini. Martin seemed just a bit more established. Safer bet? My mind and heart have changed. Viva pink and Lavendar! He is becoming a paddock favorite, both on and off the bike. I really like this kid.
King
I loved the way Bestia bowed and doffed his cowboy hat when Kenny handed him the trophy. Enea is pure class on and off the bike. Right now it looks like Ducati should put Jack and Pecco on the Pramac team and put Bastianini and Martin on Red. I think Pecco will come good in Europe and get stronger as the season progresses. At least I hope so. Cheers!
Only added thought for them
Only added thought for them is Martin may look at leaving if no Red seat. Bastianini could likely be kept on a Duc contract at White.
But you have to break some eggs to make an omelet and trying to make everyone happy seldom works.
I like Pecco and The Pink Beast in Red. Martin and Jack in White. Give Martin a big bonus package raise based on finishes/performance. Guarantee top kit.
Very
Very sensible. Depends on how badly Bestia wants to be on factory bike. We know Martin lusts for a full factory seat. Are you thinking Martin to Honda?? Jack as test rider a la Pirro?
Miller Test/replacement would
Miller Test/replacement would be brilliant!
Relative to most of the greater community my take on Jack's resume strength is low. I know, he's good! But here a long time, looks crested, and it is really competitive. I don't think he can do better than stay in Duc 2nd Team. He is too young to hang up leathers for sure. He loves it in the Paddock.
(So much for my anticipation that a European Test program and Alien Test Crutchlow would put Yamaha fwd. Or is it coming soon, delayed a tad by pandemic an Japanese caution?). They have SO much going for them over there.
Miller. Wow
Hard to think of another rider who just podiumed--and everyone here is thinking he is about to lose his ride and might not even stay in Motogp. Test rider?? Not in the near future.
I guess Marquez, six places below Miller in the championship, will be looking for a WSBK ride with BMW before Valencia!
:-)
Ducati
Ducati are the ones pushing Jack aside not us here. Just speculating on what they'll do not on what I think they should do.
Good Point
Good point Brian, Ducati has certainly done some crazy personnel moves (Dovi, Dovi!), but I would be absolutely amazed to see Miller doing a Bradl or Guintoli gig by year's end.
As we keep saying, all will be revealed once we get to Europe.
I think he wants to stay on a
I think he wants to stay on a Ducati and has plenty of racing in him. Betcha he is at Pramac w a nice contract. Sorry to imply otherwise.
Mucho grassyass
Mi amigo, or something like that, Hey i'm English, what did you expect?
2nd, up a place from last race. My time on the top step will return and powervalve will be crying in his used gearbox oil!
Not kidding stumo, I think
Not kidding stumo, I think you are going to win this thing this year. Even if your rookie pick doesn't do much, your Top 5 are spot on. Nice job.
Yikes!
You're projecting a very smelly future for me! I'll urge my riders to push all they can to keep my team in front! Now where do I have those phone numbers...
Game on, stumo!
Party time, excellent!
Game on.....
Thanks ivanhoe
49 points down 4 rounds in.
My championship is tracking Taka Nakagami. Damn.
You, BJ-Neilson & me
SP_won we only need to make up an extra 50 points and we will be right up there.
The Marc, Fab Q and Pecco should do better in Europe, fingers crossed.
Thinking about separating us tied on 148 points but for 25th place it doesn't matter. I would give 25th spot to SP_won.
You are a breast
For now, on lap 3, we can just say you are abreast. Closing stages we can part the cleavage?
If and when you want to put your nose in there to see what it is like, happy to join you and share how I did it last yr - it was clear for me when each was taken in hand.
Incidentally, I have never been to Italy. The outskirts/suburbs of Naples, do you call it Areola? Why not?!
Long season and all that…
Hopefully Jack and Remy can do the business in Europe too. Can’t help the parochial pride.
Apical don’t be too hasty giving away positions.
In the battle for 25th I will give my one hundred percent!
No Rins in Anybodies Top 5?
Wow! I think he'll contend for the championship. He's always been fast, but crashes out too much. And then last year he was injured. Looks to me that he has matured and improved his race craft to be a regular in the top 5. Regarding Miller, he's ahead of Pecco now and there is a lot of racing left. Plus he's the best interview in the paddock and probably has more fans too. He's good for Ducati so I say he keeps his seat and moves up the rankings as the season unfolds. Probably another win or two while he's at it.
Alex Rins 42
Yes rholcomb AR42 is fast. Alex rides fast, is often up towards the front in races.
But the bicycle crash at Barcelona? That seemed so dumb to me. Watching where you are going while riding a bicycle is something Rins should have learned 20 years ago.
Crashing out of the lead at Assen 2019 and the RedFlagring crash immediately after taking the lead.
Too many crashes from potential podiums. I once thought of Alex Rins as the 21st century Kevin Schwantz. Now I don't rate AR42 so highly. As far as I know Rins has not won a world championship. One CEV Buckler 125GP Championship in 2011.
More recently Rins is usually in the points when he does finish. Except 20th at Jerez 2021. 21 wasn't a good season either. Alex's second worst result overall after his rookie MotoGp season in 2017. 99 points from 11 finishes out of 18 races.
I see a lack of consistency, up & down race results, overall points up, up, down and down. Over five years this suggests to me that AR42 isn't progressing well in the craft of riding a motorcycle really really rapidly.
84 MotoGp races for 3 wins & 15 podiums versus 16 retirements. Plus some other missed races, disqualifications.
No I didn't vote for Alex Rins, good luck to him. Don't see him as world champ any time soon.
The Suzuki is strong!
The Suzuki is strong!
My guess/expectation is that Rins is going to return to crashing out of races in Europe. If I an wrong and he has turned a corner, it would make me happy. I love wee Suzuki!
Cheers Ape!
:)
Wee Suzuki
Wouldn't be so wee if they had had enough gumption to allow the top draw in motorcycle racing history put his name on a satellite team for them. I don't know if I'll ever fully forgive them for that smh. That said, I am very happy with the bike this year. They are saying they gained speed with aero. I am seeing horsepower that I haven't seen before. Who am I to believe, my eyes or Suzuki's pr??? Rins is fast - when he stays on - I say he will this year, the bike is great, Mir is thereabouts but he must start winning now and then, best looking bike too. Cheers!
