Practise
To bad this is not the final qualy and that this was the eventual gridposition :-(
Uh oh, Marquez and Rossi are
Uh oh, Marquez and Rossi are close... IF Marquez was trying to deny Rossi the title, can he afford to stop now? Can he afford not to?
So Hondas are overheating the
So Hondas are overheating the front. Dani should be ok, but Marc and Cal might suffer. The intrigue thickens...
Everything's coming up Milhouse
By that I of course mean Lorenzo.
Dani's perhaps a dark horse for the win, but it's looking like JL might very well be able to check out on lap one, with MM coming on form later in the race...
Not sure what Rossi's chances are to be honest... it would be a colossal ask for Rossi in his prime...
I think that JL will need some sort of problem for VR to be able to do what he needs to do... I'm not wishing the bloke ill luck (honest), but he's going to need to be involved in some sort of battle or run a bit wide or something like that for VR to have a chance.
I think that VR's first lap will either be his salvation or undoing... The hopers and the yellow fanboys may be citing the magic and reminding us about Qatar 2004, but they seem to forget that Rossi DNF'd (Biaggi also started from the back - although Max did take 6th though)
Rossi's more of a solid performer than a David Copperfield this days (IMO) and IMHO runs a very real chance of getting tangled up with someone and falling.
If JL runs away with it for the win, then depending on the performance of the Hondas you might argue that JL always had it in the bag...
....MM is already talking about tire management (see Crash.net) and not being able to push 100% for 100% of the race...
No doubt someone will crunch the numbers of VR's lap times, and calculate where he'd have likely finished starting from his qualification position...
...and we'll be left with that age old racing saying "if only and what could of been"
I hope I'm wrong, but I'm starting to think this might end up being quite a dull race... VR quickly breaking the top ten, but never getting any further and JL having a 3 sec lead over the rest by three quarter distance.

"That's why they line up on Sunday", says Nicky...who is riding his last MotoGP. Gotta be a heady time for Nick this weekend.

Feel sorry for #69! Going out
Feel sorry for #69! Going out with a race where nobody really cares about him due to the Sepang fiasco and Valencia finale. Colin Edwards had a bigger send off.
Hope #69 does well in WSB... Just hope he did his research on Honda WSB beforehand :-(
Go Nicky Hayden!

Hayden
For whatever reason Nicky seems to have a loyalty to Honda that I just do not understand for the life of me. I am sure he could have gone somewhere else. Wishing him the best in WSB.

Colin.
Didn't Edwards bail out for the last three races or something? I can't even remember.
Don't agree on your reflections. I have seen Hayden's name all over the race world the past few days. His departure receives a lot of attention - and rightfully so.

Fighting
Fighting tooth & nail for 15th place HAS to be demotivational, especially after the 2006 season when HRC started the Pedrosa path of development for the RCV, even though the normal sized human just scored a championship for the brand in overall exposure.Repsol likes Spanish riders 1st, Italian riders 2nd, and you must be extremely exceptional in your abilities if you are not 1 or 2. I wish Nicky Hayden the best and am looking forward to the race!
