If you thought the site had been a bit quiet recently, you are right. I seized the Easter holiday to embark on a major upgrade of the software which runs the website. As this requires a switch between major versions, this turns out to be about four times as much work as I expected. Which is almost always the way with any software upgrade.
What this means is that I have had no time to add content for the website, for which you have my sincere apologies. I will resume work on that the moment the upgrade is finished, which should be late on Wednesday/early Thursday. The upgrades will improve the functionality of the site, and mark the start of some major upgrades to the design of the site, to cope with the modern world.
While the upgrades are underway, a few things will be changed. Comments will be disabled completely, as will the MotoMatters.com store, where you can order calendars and subscriptions. This is to ensure that no comments or orders get lost during the process of updating the software. I will keep this period as short as possible.
In the meantime, if you are hungry for content on MotoGP and motorcycle racing, I can point you to my column in this week's Bike Sport News App (available for Android and Apple devices), or my recent column in the On Track Off Road magazine. You can catch up with general motorcycling news from our friends over at Asphalt & Rubber. Or you can catch up with racing news at Crash.net, Bike Sport News, MCN, GPOne.com (Italian), or Motorsport Total (German).
Make sure you also go back and listen to all of the past episodes of the Paddock Pass Podcast (we recorded a new show on Tuesday, which should be ready soon).

Good luck...and Android..
Good luck with the roll out.
This maybe a factor of the current stage of migration, but the mobile site https://m.motomatters.com/ is not rendering well on my android..Samsung galaxy S4.
The full version works well
I find the full version works very well in Chrome or Firefox on my S6 and did on my previous Galaxies as well. I rarely use mobile versions of sites as they often remove features I use.
Good luck with the upgrades David, I know how complicated these things can be.
Worth noting the Bike Sport
Worth noting the Bike Sport News app is both free and very good. Recommended.

Spoilers
David, the new format shows spoilers as I scroll by on my phone (Qatar beow for example), didn't used to - FYI.
GOOD LUCK!
:)
No worries, Anyone who uses
No worries, Anyone who uses the phrase "we're doing software upgrades" has my deepest sympathies! ;-)
The Newsify app works very well with motomatters & several other news feeds I subscribe to, it could be worth your while trying it out!
Regards,
Andy.
What it reminds me
What it reminds me, is how often i check in for all the insightful news & insights from David and the intelligent replies and comments from your readers. When you are up and going with the new system i will put an extra donation as this is the best place for MotoGP news and thoughts
Thank god
I've listened to the podcast in its entirety twice. And I've even had to resort to reading Crash.net articles. Although in all fairness it's a much better site now they've eliminated comments and gone a step beyond regurgitating press releases thinly disguised as news. Please David please. Deliver us back or sanctuary in one piece.

loading of your site has always been sluggish. didn't know if it is because you are across the pond or what. looking forward to the new version.
System upgrade?
Pentagram chalked out on the floor, candles lit, chicken's throat cut, incantations started. Hopefully it'll help. Figure it can't hurt.
Missing Date?
If I may humbly offer some feedback: I like the new site, but when I scroll through the article previews on the main page, I don't see the dates. Only when I click on a headline to view the entire article do I get the date. FWIW, I liked seeing the dates on the article snippets.

Good work
Nicely done.
Just a very small point. I'd prefer a bit more white space round the text. eg #content {padding:20px}
