A legit 5 horse, 3 pedigree race for title
Surely Ducati have to throw everything from here on in at Dovi. Lorenzo is a development racer as Rossi was 11/12 within the camp. Abject failures by appropriate proportions, financial loss, result diabolical re investment . They, including Gigi need to get over it now, as of BRNO today. Petrux is Ducati's next big deal unless they can steal Marquez from HRC as Suppo and HRC stole Stoner for 2011. Lorenzo is a silky pit viper like Rossi but he ain't no Scorpion over rough ground like Dovi, Marquez nor Stoner back then.

Money talks.
Dovi leads the Ducati charge, but it's Lorenzo who gets the new bits (fairing, dashboard display, etc).
Based on reported salaries, it's getting harder to understand how Ducati can continue to swallow Lorenzo's poor return on the huge investment made. Both Petrucci and Dovizioso are making him look ordinary and highly over-rated.
Is he worth it? How many Scramblers and MultiStradas do Ducati need to sell to break-even?

They only stop giving a rider new bits,
when it has been decided (by one or both sides) that he is not coming back for the next season (e.g. Cal Crutchlow).
Still time to make things work, rather than throwing in the towel one-quarter of the way through. Besides, it looks like Ducati has other issues to fix first, such as not calling in Lorenzo before the bike is ready, then sending him out on the wrong tires with the wrong suspension settings.
Lorenzo and Dovi
Jorge's not there for his charm, he's there because he's a five-timer. Halfway through the season, how do we write him off? Dovisioso is the first guy to develop into a top rider on the Duc over years. Prior, we saw everything they were or ever would be on the Duc rather immediately.
So, now that Dovi has rewritten the rules, do we wait out some time before thinking a rider cannot win on the Duc? However, there is the small matter of Desire. Dovi's been burning for a long time for that which has already garnered JL the fat paycheck...
rubbish
if Lorenzo wasnt stuck sitting on his bike for 15 seconds and was able to swap bikes earlier as he wished, he would have finshed way further up the field. He had great pace in the wet and showed some solid form to charge through to the front. all things considered, he showed just as good, if not better pace than Dovi this weekend. Cut him some slack..... at the end of his contract (this or next year) I bet ya he will be faster than Dovi (even though I would love Dovi to win the championship).
Rubbish, you say
Couldn't agree more.
Petrucci was costing Ducati just 200,000 a year. He's got 75 pts.
Lorenzo is costing Ducati around 12,000,000 a year. He's got 66 pts.
Go figure.
