More rider announcements from this weekend. This time, press releases from the Aspar Moto3 team announcing the signing of Andrea Migno, and from Tech 3, announcing Remy Gardner will be staying for another year:
Andrea Migno to fight with the Aspar Team in 2018
Italian rider's arrival extends the relationship between the Aspar Team and the VR46 Riders Academy
Andrea Migno will contest the Moto3 World Championship with the Aspar Team in 2018. The Italian will take part in his fourth season at this level on board a KTM, as he makes his return to the Aspar Team, with whom he contested the FIM CEV in 2014, scoring a podium and eight top-six finishes.
This agreement maintains the relationship between the Aspar Team and the VR46 Riders Academy, with the Spanish outfit fully committed to taking a rider from the school run by Valentino Rossi to the very top of the class. This collaboration has been ongoing since 2013, when the Aspar Team ran Luca Marini in the final round of the CEV. In 2014 the line-up was increased to two riders, with Marini joined by Andrea Migno, whilst in 2015 and 2016 the team ran Pecco Bagnaia in the World Championship.
Jorge Martínez "Aspar", Aspar Team General Manager: "It is great news for the Aspar Team that we have signed a rider like Andrea Migno. I think he has all the potential to fight for the World Championship. We know Andrea very well from when he was with us in the FIM CEV. We believe that he has improved a lot as a rider, he is very fast and with a competitive KTM and our technical staff we can be fighting for great things. His signing also extends our collaboration with the VR46 Riders Academy. We are satisfied that after so many years this union is proving valuable to all parties and we are continuing to develop top young riders like Migno or Pecco Bagnaia in recent seasons."
Andrea Migno: "I am very happy to get this opportunity with the Aspar Team. I think it is a great chance for me, in a great team and with a KTM that will be at a high level. Everything is in place for us to be able to fight for big things. Pecco Bagnaia always told me good things about the team, I have faith in the Aspar Team and I am happy because this is a team that in the past has won many races and world titles. I am not setting objectives right now, just looking forward to putting in strong performances and running at the front. After the first races we will be able to set our targets."
