Rossi is...
... a single point behind Marc then.
Any other year, and he'd have been pretty happy with that result after 6 rounds. Ouch. Twice.

Note to self
Note to self: do not bet on motorsports. My pick for the season (Rins, Marquez, Morbidelli) are very busy crashing, wasting good positions, squandering points. To be fair, Morbidelli this time through no fault of his own. I must be leading in DNS/DNF stats so far, no?
Abject failures
Better to fail spectacularly Ivanhoe than suffer mediocrity like most of us. Yep, when you see a bookie best keep walking.
You're doing a good job here, Shrink, this is quite entertaining. I think I'm busted, top five maybe but no podium with MM in the doldrums.
I think you are coming fwd
I think you are coming fwd Lilv...mid season. Cloverleaf, you are about to open up a gap to 2nd and 3rd. Healthy rivalry in the Red stable for you. Quarty is ON. He has finished a season less strongly than starting it, but the young guy has just made it through the far side of a torrid Yamaha downturn. How long until "his championship to lose" is uttered (outside of the Ducati and Suzuki garages of course)?
The Ducati squadron of three right behind Quartararo is super interesting. What is going on there? I think Bagnaia is rising forth to the top of that bunch. Miller is still strengthening his racing, seems to have periodic mental backslides amongst his solid successes. Zarco? He may have a bit more in the tank, but I see him 3rd in this bunch. See it differently?
Quartararo is to be taken seriously for the longer haul as a rider. The bike is good! But he is the more in the equation. Ready Aqua for a new kid. And give Franky top kit. Thank Michelin and Honda for the boost too Blue.
Marquez may be slow to leave the station, but he is coming. Mid season. Mir doesn't leave the picture frame. And the Suzuki is such an interesting bike! It comes back late in the game, be it in a race, for the season, or over the 4 Stroke era. Mir is REALLY good!
We don't say Aliens these days. We can say that a few riders are doing a lot with their bikes and standing out. And that it is in flux. Looking at riding styles and skill? Marquez, Quartararo, Bagnaia, Mir, and maybe Binder are sticking out. Martin too.
Bonking on a ceiling and falling out of that top handful are Vinales and Rins. (Sorry St Steve, but prepare for an inside pass!). One of the Ducati riders is likely to follow if not two over more time. And Martin is about to return to give chase. There will be pressure rising at Red.
Question marks remain for a few. Morbidelli is one. Oliveira for me is the other.
Bikes? We await a top kid on the Aprilia. Honda is leaving skid marks for now. KTM and these front tires? Ducati, Suzuki and Yamaha are well ahead w a gap behind them. Orange is on the gas in there. Aprilia is showing them a wheel. Honda...(edited for PG viewers).
Limitless
I know for a fact that what happened to Bradley Cooper's character in this 2011 film will also happen--in the next few weeks--to Rins and Vinales. Just have to find them the damn pill... ;-)
Shouldn't Cloverleaf be leading?
Cloverleaf...Miller 64, (should be 74) Bagnaia 79, Quartararo 105 = 248 still podium should be 258 in total
Got it, sorry and thank you!
Got it, sorry and thank you!
Wishful thinking and bad choices
I'm guilty of wishful thinking and poor judgement.
Happy to be wrong regarding MM93, the racing is better without Señor Total Domination.
Alex Rins continues to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. My "kiss of death" didn't help either.
Johann Zarco is doing well despite my support. Still no motogp win. C'est la vie. Maybe Sunday.
I went with the heart for the
I went with the heart for the championship and the mind for the runnerup spots. The previous two chapionship riders/bikes/teams seemed like a safe bet. My choices confirm a lifelong message that I suck at predicting the outcome of events. I've learned that there is freedom in unpredictability. And agree with Apical that with Marquez in recovery mode, the racing is much more enjoyable. And who'da thunk leading up to the race weekend that there would be no red bikes on the podium come Sunday?
Of course, the story may be much different come November...
Or not.
