The weather threatened to make a difference at the World Superbike Superpole race on Sunday morning. Eric Granado wouldn't start as he was ruled unfit after a concussion he got in his red flag crash and Oliver Konig would miss out after fracturing his ankle in his race crash yesterday. Danilo Petrucci was retroactively disqualified from yesterday's race for not wearing a chest protector. The air temperature was a cool 19ºC and the morning had a couple of drops of rain.

World Supersport race one, the temperature dropped by a couple of degrees, falling to 26ºC thanks to cloud cover. Yari Montella has as double long lap penalty from Assen to serve this race.

World Superbike race one was twenty laps of the long Catalunya circuit under a hot 27ºC Spanish sun. Scott Redding had a three place penalty for slow riding on the racing line.

Barcelona was 22ºC for World Superbike qualifying, and Alvaro Bautista was expected to claim pole position after a blistering performance in this morning's free practice session.

World Supersport qualifying culminated with the Superpole session and Lucas Mahias took part, replacing the injured Can Oncu.

Alvaro Bautista was quickest by almost a second, ahead of Andrea Locatelli and Michael Ruben Rinaldi. Jonathan Rea and Toprak Razgatlioglu were seventh and eighth quickest respectively.

In another Next Generation showing, championship leader Nicolo Bulega set the day's quickest time on his Ducati, ahead of Nikki Tuuli on the Triumph. Bahattin Sofuoglu's time this morning kept him in the top three overall, ending the day ahead of Federico Caricasulo and Stefano Manzi.
