Ducati seems to have figured something out - 3 out of 4 riders in the top 7?

Hoestly, if we see results charts that look like this next season, I will be pretty happy.

Still concerned about Aoyama though he did pick up over 2 seconds.

Good to see Barbera so close to Simoncelli. Hopefully the will pick up in MotoGP where they left off in 250ies.

Muscling his way up into the realm of the Aliens is a great sign! And on a satellite bike to boot! This ought to create a few more converts! Surprised to see Espargaro as the next best rookie. And what has happened to Dovi? Since they started to use the Ohlins forks he seems to have lost the plot!

colin and ben were fused together last night by tech 3 to make a super 'merkan. interviews should be interesting.

spies has taken to motogp like a duck to water. this kid is great. and lets not forget he is still a rookie. just because he has raced a couple wild cards, doesnt mean he is a vet. i mean, if we are considering espargaro a rookie, then ben is too. espargaro has had just as many races as ben...or maybe one less. anyway glad to see all the americans are looking like they are ready for a fight in 2010. really looking forward to the '10 season. so far away now

no way is spies' m1 the spec that edwards and toseland had

despite whatever they say, to be faster that rossi he must be on a factory spec bike

whatever he sits on is factory fast. but he is on a sat bike. if they gave him a bike that was faster than edwards bike, it would be the slap in the face heard 'round the world. spies is just a super stud

Spies is ahead of Rossi in post-season testing. That is not say he is not duing well but there isn't anything at stake here and no one knows what Rossi is testing.

There is absolutely no reason to believe he is on a factory bike.

Ben Spies is riding exactly the same bike that James Toseland finished the season on. Now, Spies is just working on his riding at the moment, while Rossi is testing a new chassis and several other parts. The comparison is not fair. And remember, Spies is still a whole second behind Lorenzo. That's still quite  a gap.

Edwards was ill, and stayed in his motorhome all day. See the end of day times and report for full details.

Ok...i am not a Spies oober fan...but this guy shows up and rides the bike for the first time 4 days ago...and he is already up to a time that would have put him on the 2nd row of the race...

i am not a JToseland basher, but what the heck was HE doing for the past 6 months if a guy can show up, ride his bike, and be faster than he was by a second and a half with all of 4 to 6 hours of practice on it?

all i can say is...WOW!!! are we looking at the 2nd coming of Kevin Schwanz???

i think it'll be like dovi in 2008 on his "satellite" *cough* honda

they're bringing him into the main team eventually anyway, they have no reason not to give him the best kit

edwards has a shut up about it clause in his contract cause god, he's just thankful he still has a ride on a semi decent bike

When Rossi and Lorenzo are as strong in 2010 as in 2009 (which I have no doubt) and Spies catches up with the aliens, what will Yamaha do?
Pump up the Tech3 team to factory status? That would solve several problems Yamaha currently has.

It might, maybe solve some personnel issues but adding another bike that can finish in front of Rossi just increases the chances of taking points away from Rossi and handing the title to Stoner.

Unless there is no doubt that Spies can win the championship, there is no way Yamaha is going to give him a factory bike. 2011 is a different story.

but he has to beat stoner to win the championship

if he doesn't beat stoner he's not going to win the championship anyway

I think there's still more to come and these are probably true 'test' times. They are actually trying to work out problems rather than race to the best one lap trophy. It will be far more valuable to have data rather than finish the session on top.

I read yesterday that Aoyama is working without traction control to learn the bike. Edwards was reported to have cut the test short due to illness.

I think it would be wise to remember that these are test times and are in no way reflective of the coming season.
For one I expect that come Qatar, Simoncelli will be in the thick of it.

Also don't forget that Toseland's 1st half of 2008 was exceptional on the M1 (2nd on the grid at Losail etc) - he was signed to a new deal 3 races in. It can all go horribly wrong...

It would be great to expand the top 4 to a top 6 or more, but I don't think it will happen in 2010.

Times at 3pm will mean just after Rossi got out of bed. Spies ended the day 1second behind the leader in 4th place. Yesterday he was 0.8seconds behind stoner, today he is 1second behind lorenzo

Absolutely drubbing the noobs

Funny how Yamaha just found 2 spare bike to give Spies a ride on the weekend...

That they have at least 10 bikes for both tech 3 and fiat teams, not ready but, ready to go and be fully built at any location at any time.
