Petrucci for 2 years
Minor correction: I believe Danillo Petrucci was signed through 2020 for the factory Ducati team.
Love the site, love the paddock pass pod. Keep up the good work.
Saw some conflicting reports
Saw some conflicting reports on this, but it is only a one year deal for Petrucci. Interesting decision from Ducati though; looks it's an open competition still between him and Miller for the factory seat in 2020.
What about Luthi?
He may not be in top 10 or so for sometime, but I wonder why no body even mentions him? Is it that bad? Is he going back to Moto2?
A Marquez
Alex Marquez..... why?
He was always talked up as being great, but the cynic in me believes that was only done to increase his marketability and the chance of getting rides. He has failed to deliver on expectations. Struggled to perform consistently in Moto2. Seriously, why is he being considered?
Do we really need MORE Spanish riders in MotoGP? It’s not like there aren’t enough Spanish and Italians in there now (roughly 7 Spanish confirmed and 6 Italian, with one or two more Spanish to confirm). I understand that these two countries have great feeder systems, but it’s getting ridiculous. Especially when the class gets littered with extra Spanish and Italians that either bring significant finance or come in from some other class. Petrucci didn’t come up through the feeder classes (alnd wilst he is going well now, he was given time to evolve into that), Aleix Espagaro got his initial ride from god knows how (he has no real record to speak of in any of the classes when he first started). Pecco is getting great recognition, but hasn’t won any championships, yet is already signed to MotoGP. Mir (a Moto3 champion) has not yet won in Moto2, is already signed.
None of the other nationalities are really being looked at because the main class has become so Italian and Spanish centric. I mean Zarco, who is a great talent, had to win 2 Moto2 championships before he was even given a satellite Yamaha seat. You can argue that the Italian and Spanish countries have lots of talented riders….. but they are, by far, given the most chances.
"It is uncertain whether the Marc VDS team will continue
next season."
Does not Dorna have a Plan B to make sure that there are 24 bikes on the grid?
Also, is the information that Bartholemy owns the grid slots and not VDS (the man) correct? Either way it would make sense to have them used for a satellite Yamaha team, whether SIC-Petronas or Sky VR46.
Dani Pedrosa on a Mugen E-bike in 2019
There is one class still available that might work for Dani Pedrosa, E- bikes or whatever they are calling it next year. Mugen is not exactly part of the Honda family but it is close.
The electric bikes should be heavy enough to generate heat in the tyres.
No body else is going to have the experience that Pedrosa has & at least Dani would still be racing. It might give him a good chance of winning races & a championship or two.
