Paddock Pass Podcast Episode 245: Looking Ahead To Misano 2

The latest episode of the Paddock Pass Podcast powered by Fly Racing and Renthal Street sees Neil Morrison, Adam Wheeler, and Steve English sit down in person for the first time in months. Fresh off the plane from the San Juan Villicum round of WorldSBK, Steve kicks off the show with some talk of the WorldSBK title, and how things are looking for Toprak Razgatlioglu. That transitions into talk about the MotoGP title, with Steve, Adam, and Neil discussing whether they think Fabio Quartararo will wrap up the 2021 MotoGP crown at Misano this weekend.

The crew then discuss how they expect the race to play out, as well as taking a look at the Moto2 and Moto3 championships, and what role Misano 2 could play. They discuss Valentino Rossi's best, and more interestingly, worst special helmet designs for the Italian races. They mark the 10th anniversary of Marco Simoncelli's death at Sepang, which will be commemorated this weekend. And they make their predictions for who will win the race. Steve also reveals what food he most looks forward to eating when he visits Misano (and it's not pizza).

Paddock Pass Podcast Episode 244: WorldSBK Jerez & Portimão - The Dangers Of WorldSSP300, And The Burgeoning Rea vs Razgatlioglu Rivalry

Technical problems derailed the post-Jerez WorldSBK wrap up, so Steve English and Gordon Ritchie sat down after the Portimão round to take a look back at the last two wild weekends of WorldSBK for the Paddock Pass Podcast presented by Pirelli.

The big question after the tragic death of Dean Berta Viñales at Jerez was how to improve safety, especially in the WorldSSP300 class. Steve and Gordo ponder the purpose of WorldSBK's newest and smallest class, look at some of the riders, and consider ways of improving the class. Then they get into the WorldSBK class, and the growing and fierce rivalry between Jonathan Rea and Toprak Razgatlioglu, before looking ahead at how the rest of the season might go down.

Paddock Pass Podcast Episode 243: Moto3 Madness And Beaubier Comes Good In Moto2 In Austin

The Moto3 race in Austin saw some terrifying scenes, as Deniz Öncü clipped Jeremy Alcoba's front wheel, causing Andrea Migno and Pedro Acosta to go flying at over 200 km/h. Plenty to discuss in the Paddock Pass Podcast Follow Up Show Fueled By Elf Marc VDS Racing, and Neil Morrison, Adam Wheeler, and Steve English take an in-depth look at the near-tragedy which unfolded in Moto3. They dig into the whys and wherefores, and whether a two-race ban is justified for Öncü.

Then they move on to Moto2, and discuss Remy Gardner's first big mistake, allowing Raul Fernandez to narrow the gap in the title race to just 9 points. Gardner explains to Neil what happened, and then Cameron Beaubier tells Neil how he made a big step forward at the Circuit of the Americas. The crew go through the Moto2 runes, and examine Beaubier's success means for US racing, and ask where things have gone wrong for Joe Roberts.

Paddock Pass Podcast Episode 241: Previewing Austin MotoGP, And Making Racing Safer

In this episode of the Paddock Pass Podcast presented by Fly Racing and Renthal Street, Adam Wheeler and David Emmett get together to look ahead to the Grand Prix of The Americas in Austin, Texas. Adam and David discuss what it is like for MotoGP to be heading overseas again after two years of Qatar being the only race held outside of Europe.

We discuss the track, and what we expect of it. We talk about how the track's 20 corners and many bumps make it one of the most demanding circuits on the calendar. And we ask which bike it might suit, and what effect this race weekend could have on the championship.

We also address the concerns around safety after last weekend's death of Dean Berta Viñales in the WorldSSP300 race at Jerez. We discuss how this could be fixed, and Adam gives an insight into how the junior classes in motocross bring young riders into the sport with less risk.

Finally, we finish up with our predictions for the race, and whether Marc Marquez will manage to win another race in the US.

Paddock Pass Podcast Episode 239: Barcelona WorldSBK - Kawasaki's Missing Revs, And Chaz Davies Interview

Travel and logistics meant that Gordon Ritchie and Steve English did not get to sit down and record the Barcelona WorldSBK episode of the Paddock Pass Podcast until they arrived in Jerez on Thursday. That turned out to be fortuitous, as it meant that Steve could sit down with Chaz Davies for an interview shortly after the Welshman had announced his retirement from racing, and in which he gave a typically fascinating look at his career and motivation through the years.

Before that, Gordo and Steve take a look back at Barcelona. They discuss the effect the races there had on the championship, and take a long look at how Kawasaki not getting the 500 RPM they tested with and banked on has hurt them down the stretch. They discuss Toprak Razgatlioglu's championship chances, and what has changed. And they look at the situation at Honda, and ask whether bringing in new riders from the MotoGP paddock is the best move. And of course, they take a look at Chaz Davies' career, and what he has meant to the WorldSBK series.

In this week's Paddock Pass Podcast Follow Up Show Fueled By Elf Marc VDS Racing, Adam Wheeler, Neil Morrison and David Emmett look back at the racing in the Moto2 and Moto3 classes at Aragon. We start off with the moments which really stood out for all three of us - Pedro Acosta's reaction to Sergio Garcia's crash, Raul Fernandez in Parc Ferme, and Deniz Öncü's words in the Moto3 Parc Ferme.

Where Dennis Foggia found his extra speed from, Deniz Öncü getting another second place, and the championship ramifications of crashes by Pedro Acosta and Sergio Garcia. Then we talk about Moto2. Starting off with a look at the Moto2 championship, we then move on to discuss Augusto Fernandez' move to the Ajo Moto2 team, and Sam Lowes extending with the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team. We talked about the old surface at Aragon, and whether it is to blame for the crashes in Moto2.  We talk about Raul Fernandez' win, and whether we think Raul Fernandez or Remy Gardner will come out on top next year, when the pair move up into the Tech3 KTM MotoGP squad.

The Aragon MotoGP race turned into a duel for the ages in the last three laps, with Pecco Bagnaia effortlessly withstanding a mountain of pressure from Marc Marquez.
