Brad Binder makes excellent debut

16 year old Brad Binder has made a very promising start of his 125cc GP career. The young South African finished his first ever race in seventeenth position at the Indianapolis track.

The result was beyond expectations of the RW Racing GP team as well as Binder himself. With a brilliant start Binder immediately nailed five riders and got to the first corner in 22th position. Early in the race he got himself into a group of riders with Jasper Iwema and Taylor MacKenzie amongst others. Due to a mistake of MacKenzie Binder lost contact with the group but managed to overcome a gap of more than three seconds by himself.

Looking at the wear off of the rear tyre and the constant faster lap times during the race, chief mecanic Hans Spaan was pleasantly surprised Binder didn't crash. ,,It is truly amazing what the kid has shown here. He was constantly two seconds per lap faster in the race than in qualifying. Everything he did was good. You can tell he's a real racer: he is at his best when there is something at stake. That says a lot about his mental strength and his physical condition. He is really a talent rider.''

For the rear tyre this track is really hard but for Brad Binder it could have went on for at least another hour. ,,I have really enjoyed myself,'' he says. ,,I wasn't tired at all. It's hot, but I'm used to that in South Africa. The 125 race lasts longer than I'm used to in Red Bull Rookies Cup, but I had so much fun I was a bit disappointed when I saw there were only five more laps to go. It's a pity it was over so soon.''

RW Racing GP has subscribed Binder for the Misano GP, next weekend, in case Luis Salom is still not fit to race due to his hand injuries.

Fifth victory for Marc Márquez

The Repsol rider signs an indisputable triumph at the Indianapolis Grand Prix and keeps cutting the difference in the overall standings

New display from Marc Márquez at the Moto2 World Championship as he gathered his fifth success of the season at the Indianapolis Grand Prix. The Repsol rider achieved a crushing victory without leaving any margin for surprise despite the competitive level of the intermediate category, where he keeps cutting differences in the overall classification.

When the lights went out, Marc Márquez was overtaken by Bradley Smith and Simone Corsi in the first lap. Nevertheless, the Repsol rider waited for the right moment to recover the lost ground and he took the lead in lap seven. From the first position, Márquez started to widen the advantage over his rivals and finally reached the chequered flag with a two-seconds advantage over Pol Espargaró and Tito Rabat.

With today's race, Marquez strengthens his second position at the overall standings after recovering 54 points in the last five races and is now 28 points behind the championship leader, Stefan Bradl.


Today the eleventh event of 2011 season for the Moto2 class was held at the circuit of Indianapolis.

The day kicked off with a good warm up for Andrea Iannone, Speed Master rider, who finished with the fifth time of the session.

Starting from the third spot on the grid, immediately the rider from Vasto played an important role within the leading group, as he took part to the fight for the podium and he set the best lap time of the race. Once the first thirteen laps were completed, Andrea started struggling, mainly because of the rear tyre, which was worn out earlier than expected. Because of the lack of grip and the high risk to crash, Andrea couldn't keep up the good pace he initially showed and he was forced to slow down. He eventually crossed the finishing line in eleventh position.

With the five points he achieved today, the Italian rider now holds a total of 96 points, which take him to the third position in the Championship classification.

Andrea Iannone, #29 — race: 11th

"I'm really sorry for this result and for how this weekend finished. We had a good pace and we knew we could achieve a good position in the race. Now we are going to analyze the data we gathered in the race, to try to prevent this from happening in the future. For sure this isn't what we were expecting from this Grand Prix, but now we're flying to Misano and there we are going to work to fight and obtain a positive result."

Smith fourth after brilliant Indianapolis podium battle

Bradley Smith started and finished today's Moto2 race at the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway in fourth position, the British rider fighting for a podium finish throughout the 26-lap race.

The Tech 3 Racing Team rider made an electrifying start from the second row to lead into the first turn and as the race developed in hot and humid conditions, the 20-year-old was constantly in contention for his fourth rostrum finish in the last six races.

Once again showcasing the high level of performance of the Mistral 610 machine, designed and developed in France by the Tech 3 Racing Team, Smith brilliantly held off late pres sure from compatriot Scott Redding to try and hunt down Esteve Rabat and Pol Espargaro in the chase for second spot.

The British rider gave his maximum effort until the chequered flag but he was never able to get close enough to attack the Spanish pair and he finished just over a second behind third placed Rabat.

Today's result was Smith's fifth top four of the season and his 13-point haul maintained his brilliant challenge for third place in the overall World Championship standings. With six races remaining, rookie Smith is sixth in the rankings but only four-points behind Andrea Iannone in third.

It was a difficult and disappointing afternoon for Smith's team-mate Mike di Meglio, who was never able to find a comfortable suspension and chassis setting on his Mistral 610 machine during the weekend.

The French rider still rode with 100 per cent commi tment but he was unable to finish higher than 27th position having struggled with a rear grip issue from the early stages.

Bradley Smith: 4th – 92 points:

"Fourth position is a little bit frustrating as we were all working for a podium all weekend. It was a great race but to get so close to the podium and see it all through the entire race is a little bit disappointing. But we got some really important points back in the Championship and I'm firmly in the hunt for third overall, which in my rookie season is a fantastic achievement. After not finishing the last two races in Sachsenring and Brno, completing the race distance meant that we learnt a lot. We are able to take the data with us and analyse it for the final part of the season to improve the bike even more because we already have a really competitive package. There are a few thin gs that we need to work on, especially with rear grip. That's where Rabat and Espargaro seemed to have a slight advantage today. I need to say a big thanks to my Team though who have done an incredible job once again this weekend. Now I am ready to get home for a brief rest before getting ready to return strong for Misano."

Mike di Meglio: 27th – 8 points:

"It was a very hard race and we had a lot of problems. This morning it was not going bad and we worked with used tyres, so I was quite confident. But right from the start I had trouble with my rear tyre and that was really strange. I really hope we can solve these problems and we can have a better race in Misano."

Hervé Poncharal: Team Manager:

"The last two races in Germany and Czech Republic were bad results for the Tech 3 Racing Team but we are so glad to see Bradley back at the front where we know he can be. He finished fourth in qualifying and fourth in the race, but that doesn't tell the whole story. He made an incredible start to get the holeshot and was leading the race and never gave up. Marc Marquez was in a race of own today but Bradley was also very strong and I am happy that we are back in the battle for third place in the Championship. We are sixth now, but only four-points away from third, so we are right back in the hunt. I hope we are going to carry on like that for the next races because Bradley is having a fantastic rookie season. It is a shame for Mike because he started the weekend really well, but for some reason he could not make qualifying and the race at his best level. We need to analyse what went wrong and hope to return stronger in Misano."


Spaniard wins at 'The Brickyard' for third time in his career, setting a new track record of 1'48.380 in the process

The 125cc race at Indianápolis provided a continuation of what had been seen all weekend. BANKIA Aspar rider Nico Terol proved to be a class above at the American circuit, breaking free and leaving the rest of the field in his dust. Three riders looked to pick up the podium scraps once Terol had made his move, and Viñales, Faubel and Zarco were favourites to join him on the rostrum. Later on, Cortese and Gadea joined the fight, in a finale that saw all riders battling against degrading tyres. Terol took the win, with Viñales second and Cortese third.

Nico Terol has always had a strong affinity for Indianapolis, as it was the scene of his first Grand Prix triumph back at the inaugural event. He put the hammer down in his quest to win for the second consecutive year, with a series of fast early laps. Misfortune had struck him at Brno, but in Indianapolis he was unstoppable. He was the only rider to record qualifying-esque lap times on race day, and was the deserved winner stateside. His advantage as WorldChampionship leader extends to 26 points.

Héctor Faubel was part of the chasing pack, riding an intelligent race based on tyre conservation. However, it wasn't enough to preserve the front rubber on his bike, and thus he eventually dropped down to seventh on the final laps.

Adrián Martín did not even get to finish the race, having suffered the same problems as Faubel. He crashed out with three laps remaining, but was unhurt and will be ready to participate at Misano next weekend.

1st Nico Terol: "My aim was to concentrate fully from the start and find the same pace that I had in practice. This was the key to the race. I broke away from the front group and maintained the gap in the second half of the race. Tyre performance dropped dramatically, but I focused on not making any mistakes and was really comfortable. This is the track at which I took my first win and it is always a good circuit for me, and we saw that today. This victory and Zarco's fifth place take us back to a strong advantage in the overall standings. We took 25 points today, but the way in which we did it makes me even happier. Our pace was excellent, and I hope to keep it up. The team obviously play a huge part in this success, because it isn't easy to set the bike up at this track. Now we have to take things race-by-race, without thinking about the general standings."

7th Héctor Faubel: "The race started really well. I was behind Viñales and Zarco but chose not to attack in order to conserve my tyres. I had spoken with my mechanics beforehand, and our strategy was to save the rubber as best we could. Zarco nearly crashed halfway through the race, and I had to take evasive action to avoid him -which I only just managed to do. Then Gadea's group caught up with us. We had worked with used tyres over the weekend, so I believed that I knew more or less how the bike would respond. However, at the end of the race the rubber was destroyed. It's a pity that we didn't finish off a positive week in the best way. I understand that the majority of riders had issues with the abrasive asphalt here. I had to perform some real miracles when the bike was sliding about on the final laps, with one scare after another."

Adrián Martín (DNF): "I started the race with a fresh mindset, trying to forget recent disappointments from the past four races. I wanted to fight right from the get-go to gain as many places as possible. I was riding faster than in practice and felt comfortable, but when Oliveira passed me I felt the tyre performance drop significantly. I lost the front every time I entered a corner, especially when I was going more slowly. I tried to be as smooth as possible in order to keep upright, but it became impossible and I fell with three laps to go. We are going through a run of bad luck, but we will keep working to get through it as soon as possible."

Xavier Siméon adds more points to his championship tally in Indianapolis

Xavier Siméon had a tough race today at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with the boiling heat and having to fight back from 24th position on the grid. But the 21 year old had a quite good start and was able to finish the race in 13th position, which adds three points to his championship tally.

The young Belgian is still not 100% satisfied with his result as he was not able to pass Jules Cluzel, who was riding on a slower pace in front of him. And he misse d to finish the race in the Top 10.

Nevertheless Siméon is confident to better his result in one week time in Misano when he will ride his Mistral 610 bike for the next time.

Xavier Siméon, 13th - 46'14.880:

"I think I had a good start, but I am still not 100% satisfied. It is very difficult to overtake on this track and I lost some time behind other slower riders at the start. That is a pity as I think I could have caught the Top 10. After I was behind (Jules) Cluzel I lost time as he was slower than I was, but I could not p ass him. Then I found my rhythm and I was able to pass and catch (Thomas) Lüthi and (Alex) De Angelis, but when Cluzel passed me back I was losing time again. But still I am happy with my 13th place. My target was to get some points and I was able to do that. Now my goal is to do another step forward and get a better result in Misano."

Hervé Poncharal, Team Manager:

"I am very happy for Xavier. I think although the qualifying was not really easy for him he never gave up and made the best out of his starting position. The bike is working well here and the package of Xavier and the Mistral 610 is a fast combination. Top 10 was a possibility, bu t 13th means he got some points and I hope it will give him another boost and he can top that in Misano once again. All the top management from RTL, who are helping the Tech3 B Team a lot, are coming and it would be nice to show them what Xavier can do with the Mistral 610 bike."

Marc Márquez deals another blow

The Repsol rider signs his fifth victory of the season and already reduced by 54 points in the last 5 races Stefan Bradl's advantage

The Indianapolis Grand Prix saw again the best version of Marc Márquez, who after dominating the practice did not leave any chance for surprises during the race. The Repsol rider took the lead of the race in the seventh lap and escaped alone, setting a searing pace to get a crushing victory in the always close Moto2 category, where he is second of the overall standings, 28 points behind Stefan Bradl.

The Repsol rider was calmed during the first minutes of the race and, after doing a good start, saw how Bradley Smith and Simone Corsi overtook him in the first lap. Far from rushing, Márquez overtook Smith in the third lap and in the seventh, with the tyres in their best condition and less fuel in the tank, he passed Simone Corsi.

At that moment, Emilio Alzamora's pupil started to set a pace faster than any other rider on track and, one tenth after the other, increased his margin over his rivals until achieving a difference that was up to six seconds. With indisputable authority, Márquez crossed the finish line two seconds ahead of Pol Espargaró and Tito Rabat, who completed an all-Spanish podium.

After five consecutive races finishing ahead of Stefan Bradl, Márquez reduced by 54 points the German's advantage, which is now of 28 points, with six races to go and 150 points available.


MAPFRE Aspar accomplishes mission of finishing 26-lap contest at 'The Brickyard'

The Moto2 race at Indianapolis was a show one, and short on real excitement compared with the thriller at Brno two weeks prior. The riders were wary of the new asphalt that had yet to pick up reliable levels of grip, and thus many decided to exercise caution over the course of the 26-lap race. Marc Márquez went down the opposite route, pushing hard early on and clocking times similar to his Saturday pole lap. He won the race, ahead of Pol Espargaró and Esteve Rabat.

MAPFRE Aspar rider Julián Simón finally acheived his goal of completing a Moto2 race, -something pending since his horrific accident in Catalonia earlier this season. The Spaniard has bounced back from a broken leg to compete in the World Championship once more, and showed his fight at Indianapolis with a great ride. He had approached things with caution this weekend, but his aim of crossing the finish line drove him on. Starting from fifteenth on the grid, he pushed on in the opening two laps to move up to seventh. There he stayed, completing an excellent race and hitting his target for the weekend.

Eighteenth place for Jordi Torres was the second MAPFRE Aspar rider's best finish to date in a Moto2 race. He slowly gained speed and continued his adaptation to a class in which he participated for the first time at the Silverstone round. It was a strong result for a newcomer to a highly competitive category.

7th Julián Simón: "I am very happy to have finally finished a race; that's one of our aims completed. I am also satisfied with how I made up so many positions, and I was even thinking of pushing harder until I refocused on finishing. It was a hard race, in which the tyres were really battling against us. I tried to conserve them as best I could, but it was a close call on the final laps. I had to be very prudent coming out of some of the slow corners, because the bike was sliding around a lot. If I had got a better start, then maybe I would have been in with a chance of the podium. I'm delighted with this result, after the hard times we've had of late. I want to thank the team enormously for their work, which was as stellar as always. They really help raise my morale every day."

18th Jordi Torres: "I have to carry on working on riding better as part of a group, and that way I can better fight against the frantic nature of the opening laps. It makes me angry, because I had a good enough pace to be higher up the order but I always play it too safe at the start. As the laps went on I managed to drop my times and ride more at ease. I tried to latch onto a group who were ahead of me, but I was wary of making a mistake because the tyres had already gone off. I World like to finish better, but I feel that we are working well and always focusing on the race at hand. Sooner or later, things will click. I am happy with how we bounced back from some problems on Friday and Saturday, as we found some solutions in the morning warmup."


Scott Redding equalled his best result of the 2011 Moto2 World Championship this afternoon, the Marc VDS Racing rider sustaining a brilliant challenge for the podium until the final stages of an exciting Indianapolis race.

And the Marc VDS Racing Team was able to savour its first double top 10 finish of 2011, with Mika Kallio producing a rousing effort in gloriously sunny conditions to finish in a richly deserved ninth place.

Redding's performance in the 26-lap was worthy of the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway after he launched a stunning attack from 11th on the grid. The British rider demonstrated the blistering speed that saw him dominate Free Practice as he quickly forced his way into the top six by lap four.

Redding's confidence grew with every lap and a brilliant overtake on Andrea Iannone moved him into fifth on lap 20. The 18-year-old then became engaged in an enthralling fight with compatriot Bradley Smith, the British pair superbly closing on Spanish duo Esteve Rabat and Pol Espargaro in the hunt for second place.

But with track temperature hitting 45 degrees, Redding was unable to maintain his pace in the crucial final stages and after suffering a small drop in grip he opted to take the safe option and collect 11 valuable points to strengthen his challenge for a top 10 position in the World Championship rankings.

Kallio used all of his experience and skill in a physically demanding race, the Finnish rider fighting his way majestically through the field from 18th on the grid to ninth. He too was able to execute some brilliant overtakes and he seized ninth of the final lap from Aleix Espargaro to finish only 0.021s away from equalling his best result of the campaign.

Scott Redding #45: 5th Position

"That was a very difficult race but I'm really happy. Firstly, challenging for the podium is where we should have been all season, and it feels great to have been in a battle at the right end of the field. Secondly, conditions were very hot again and in the past I've struggled in extremely hot weather. But I got through the race with no problems and I still felt strong at the end, so that's a big bonus for me. We've been at the front all weekend, so we knew we had the pace to fight for a podium. But today once again proved how important qualifying is because starting from 11th meant I had to abuse my tyres a lot more than I wanted to gain some places in the early laps. I made some hard moves and at the end I was closing on the battle for second, but I was right on the edge and having two-wheel slides without the brakes on. This result has given me a lot of confidence for the final part of the season and I've got to say a big thanks to the Marc VDS Racing Team because today is a good reward for all their hard work."

Mika Kallio #36: 9th Position

"I am very happy because a top 10 was the pre-race target and we achieved that. My pace in the race was good throughout, so it makes me even more disappointed with what happened in qualifying yesterday because without that, it is not unrealistic to think I could have been fighting in the top six. It was still one of my best races of the season and it was a real test of concentration because every single lap I was in battle. The problem was it was so difficult to overtake with any confidence. The racing line is so small in places that if you ran into the dirty and slippery part it was easy to crash. It took me a lot of time to find the places where you could overtake, but this was a good result for the Marc VDS Racing Team. Scott was fast all weekend and my race was strong, so hopefully we can build on the momentum gained here for the final part of the season."

Michael Bartholemy - Team Manager

"This was the performance from Scott and Mika that we hoped we would see right from the beginning of the season, but I suppose it is better late than never. When I signed with Scott and Mika for 2011, the goal was always to have one in the top five and the other in the top 10 and we've achieved that today. Both of them rode a fantastic race and I think they showed the true potential of the Marc VDS Racing Team and the Suter MMXI package. It is a shame that both of them got stuck in heavy traffic at the end of qualifying because had they been a bit further up the grid, we could be enjoying an even better flight to Misano. This is an important race for Arma Energy and I hope we have given them something to smile about today. I am also delighted for Marc van der Straten. Many people had stopped believing in our project but his support has been incredible. He never stops pushing and pushing and I hope we can deliver him more results like this in the last six races."


Unfortunately there were no surprise results for Team Gresini in the Moto2 race today as both Michele Pirro and Yuki Takahashi endured a disappointing afternoon. Overall it has been a weekend to forget, wielding zero points, as the team now hope for better fortunes in their home race and beyond.

Michele Pirro (20th) "The bike was practically unrideable today and it was a struggle just to stay with the others. It is hard for us to come up with an explanation. One thing for certain is that we will all work tirelessly to make sure we turn the situation around."

Yuki Takahashi (25th) "Needless to say this was a disastrous race. Myself and the team have to reflect on this and come up with the solutions to change thing around. I want it, the team wants it and we simply have to find something."

Fausto Gresini "We need a complete reset and restart. Together with the riders we need to find a solution because today was not acceptable."

No luck for Thomas Luthi: Disappointing

17th place due to tyre problems

It could have been a perfect day. Thomas Luthi had a great start and held a promising fourth place after one lap. But instead of battling for a podium position, the Swiss Interwetten Paddock Moto2-Pilot dropped back. Fifth on lap two, sixth on lap three, tenth on lap eight. In the end, he had to settle for a disappointing 17th place at the Indianapolis Grand Prix. The rear tyre of the 24-year-old had lost grip early on in the race and was completely worn when Lüthi crossed the finish line.

Thomas Lüthi –17th place:

"There is not much to say. The rear tyre is completely destroyed, there was no rubber left. The grip started to drop after three laps already. I had no chance at all. In the first two laps I thought it might be possible to put up a fight, but then the problems started. I tried to change my riding style, but it didn't help because apart from a lack of side grip, I didn't have any traction either. The tyre was shredded to bits!"

Terell Thien – team manager:

"We didn't even get close to our lap times in qualifying and we now have to analyze what went wrong. Fact is that the left flank of the rear tyre didn't have any rubber left at all after the race. Tom pushed on and did whatever was possible, but if you look at the rear tyre, it's obvious that he couldn't do any better."

Alfred Willecke – crew chief:

"We don't have a clear idea yet what went wrong, it is too early to say. It looks as if the track conditions changed in a way that didn't suit our set-up at all. The rear tyre was completely destroyed on the left flank. Of course it's impossible to race like that!"

Tyre problems slow Neukirchner und West

It could have been a great day for MZ Racing Team. Max Neukirchner, who had battled his way to 16th place on the grid at his first ever Indianapolis Grand Prix, had confirmed his tyre choice with a long run and was convinced of his chance to fight for world championship points. Anthony West's new crew chief Warren Willing had addressed the remaining set-up problems and the 30-year-old Australian was prepared to catch up and fight for a strong result as well.

But in the race, both MZ factory riders suffered unexpected tyre problems. Neukirchner, who briefly held 13th position after one lap, dropped back out of the point rankings within three laps. He managed to defend 20th position for another ten laps but had to settle for 24th place in the end. West managed to recover a few positions at the beginning of the race and held 24th place for six laps, but then dropped back with strange vibrations on his rear wheel and finished a disappointed 26th.

Max Neukirchner – 24th :

"I was able to fight with the others for one lap, then my problems started. I had a lot of wheelspin, which we didn't have once in all the practice sessions. Even when we did a long-run yesterday in order to confirm our tyre choice, we didn't have any problems and were instead very confident that the tyres would last the entire race distance. But today, I struggled almost from the beginning. We now have to analyse what caused this problem, because our set-up was the same as yesterday!"

Warren Willing – crew chief of Anthony West :

"We were too far behind on the starting grid, so our next task is to do better in qualifying. Anthony's lap times were reasonably consistent, but then we ran into a tyre problem. The rear tyre turned on the rim and started to cause vibrations!"

Marc Márquez storms to fifth victory

Six Suter MMXI in the top twelve

Marc Márquez made another important step in the title fight of the Moto2 category. At the Grand Prix of Indianapolis, the Spanish Suter MMXI rider rode to his fifth victory of the season. His race win on the legendary "brickyard" was the fifth time in a row that he crossed the finish line ahead of his title rival Stefan Bradl. The German, who had suffered a heavy fall in practice, finished in sixth position and saw his once massive lead in the world championship standings dwindle to only 28 points.

Márquez, who had conquered pole position the day before, repeated his flawless performance in the race. For the opening laps, he stayed behind Italian Simone Corsi. After sweeping into the lead on lap eight, he pulled away immediately and crossed the finish line well ahead of his Spanish friends Pol Espargaro and Esteve Rabat, who celebrated their first podium finishes in the hard-fought Moto2 category.

But Márquez was not the only Suter MMXI rider to enjoy a great race. Scott Redding fought from eleventh place on the grid to fifth position in the end. Spains former 125 cc world champion Julian Simón took a strong seventh place behind Stefan Bradl. Mika Kallio battled to ninth and scored his second top ten finish of the year. With Andrea Iannone in eleventh and Dominique Aegerter in twelfth place, a total of six Suter riders made it into the top twelve in the race.

Just Tom Luthi, Switzerlands big star, ran into bad luck. The 24-year-old held fourth position on the first lap, but saw all his chances of fighting for a podium finish dwindle away when his rear tyre started to shred up and to lose grip dramatically. In the end, he finished a disappointed 17th.

"As expected, tyre problems were a decisive factor in the race and Tom Luthi ran into bad luck indeed. I feel sorry for him because after his strong practice performance, he deserved much better", said Eskil Suter, CEO of Suter Racing Technology.

"Apart from that, the race was just sensational. Our riders did extremely well, and Marc Márquez was once again unbelievably strong and clever. I want to congratulate him, because he now can win the title out of his own power. The last part of the season will be a thriller!"


Indianapolis – Sunday 28 August, 2011: Both Mahindra riders had difficult weekends at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, with Danny Webb sitting out the 125cc race with a hand injury and Marcel Schrötter crashing on the final lap after being in the points for much of the race.

Danny Webb (20, from England) injured his hand in Saturday morning practice, an injury that affected his performance in qualifying. Having sought medical advice from the Clinica Mobile, Webb decided to sit out the Indianapolis Grand Prix with the hope of being fit for next week's San Marino Grand Prix in Misano, Italy.

Marcel Schrötter began the race quickly. From 15th on the first lap, the young German rider moved to 14th, then 13th on the fourth of 23 laps. Schrötter was well into the points on the ninth lap when he began to struggle with grip. He eventually fell on the final lap while battling for points.

"Danny wanted to race, but it was better that he didn't, so we were happy that he joined us in the garage," said Nicola Casadei, team manager. "Marcel was doing a good job, but we'll look at all the data to see if we can work out why he was struggling. He was pushing hard for a result at the end so it is a shame he fell. The good thing is we have a race next week in Misano, so we can get back going in the right direction."


From the start I felt we had made a good improvement on yesterday and I went with the group. But after ten laps or so I was finding the front was trying to close and it was very difficult to ride. I didn't want to push too hard, but I was still holding my position. Then on the final lap I went down. It's really a shame, because I think I was up as high as 13th place and with everything that was happening on the last lap I might have been able to finish even higher.


They did an x-ray yesterday, but it was with a portable x-ray machine. They said it wasn't broken, but all of the doctors at the Clinica Mobile felt around and they seem to think it's broken. I'll go home and get an x-ray, go to see my doctor on Wednesday and see what it is from there. See if we can race in Misano or not. I prefer to be fit towards the end of the season, have a good end, rather than come back too quickly. We'll see what happens. Hopefully I can be ready for Misano. If not we'll have to wait.


FTR MOTO enjoyed its best race of the 2011 Moto2 World Championship season so far as Pol Espargaro finished runner-up and Esteve Rabat third in Sunday's 11th round at Indianapolis, USA.

Espargaro, 20, qualified in seventh place on the HP Tuenti Speed Up M211 before taking his fourth point-scoring finish of the year with second, holding off fellow Spaniard Esteve Rabat on the Blusens-STX FTR machine.

Mattia Pasini finished eighth on the Ioda Racing Project M211 with his team-mate and fellow Italian Simone Corsi 14th – after qualifying in a season-best second place – and to continue his run of scoring World Championship points in every round of 2011.

The MZ-FTRs of Max Neukirchner and Anthony West finished 24th and 26th respectively with Martin Cardenas – replacing the injured Yonny Hernandez – 28th on the Blusens-STX FTR.

JD Beach, riding the Aeroport de Castello FTR M211, finished in 29th place with Speed Up's Valentin Debise 30th, wild card Jacob Gagne 31st on the GP Tech M211 and Santiago Hernandez 33rd on the Stop and Go Team's M211.

Luckless Kenny Noyes (FOGI/GP Tech) suffered a crash in his home round as did Ratthapark Wilaroit on the Thai Honda Singha machine, both escaping injury.

Corsi's 14th place leaves him fifth in the World Championship, just three points behind third place while Rabat has moved into the top 10 for the first time this year and now sits in eighth place.

"The Indianapolis results are what we've sort of being waiting for," explained FTR's Steve Bones. "Both Pol Espargaro and Esteve Rabat have threatened these kind of results but they're now at a confident and comfortable stage with the M211 and I think that showed on Sunday.

"And Mattia Pasini also showed consistency this weekend by qualifying in sixth and finishing eighth and scoring back to back points in the World Championship for the first time this year."

Does anyone know what has happened to Gresini? They were pretty good in the beginning of the season but their pace seems to have collapsed.

They changed away from Öhlins but in their good results they had the Bitubo suspension.
