Marc VDS Estrella Galicia Press Release - Grand Project Spanning Many Classes Launched

The Estrella Galicia 0,0 team issued the following press release today, after the launch of their assault on the Spanish CEV championship, Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP:

Estrella Galicia 0,0 launch most complete project in MotoGP World Championship

The Estrella Galicia 0,0 riders today unveiled the liveries with which they will compete across every World Championship, Spanish Pre-Moto3 (RFME) and Moto3 Junior World Championship class.

The 2015 season will be a milestone for Estrella Galicia 0,0, representing the starting point of an ambitious project focused on motorcycle racing from grassroots level to the elite.

The union between Galicia 0,0, Monlau Repsol Technical School and Marc VDS has formed a competitive structure with new riders who will take their first steps in the Spanish Pre-Moto3 Championship (RFME) and Moto3 Junior Championship, established talents with titles in Moto3 and Moto2 at World Championship level, and a MotoGP team led by Scott Redding.

In Moto3, Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 will field Fabio Quartararo, who at just 15 years of age has already won two titles in the FIM CEV Repsol. Alongside him is Jorge Navarro, who finished runner-up to Quartararo in 2014.

The Estrella Galicia 0,0 - Marc VDS Moto2 team will be spearheaded by reigning Moto2 World Champion Tito Rabat, and Alex aárquez, who joins the intermediate class as Moto3 World Champion.

In MotoGP, Scott Redding will race with one of the few factory Honda RC213V machines on the grid, reuniting with a team with which he has achieved his greatest sporting successes so far. This year he will look to move into the MotoGP elite.

"I'm really happy to be on a team where I am the only rider; it is something I had always dreamed of as all efforts will be focused on a single objective. I'm happy to be back with the Marc VDS team. I already know the team and that will help us achieve good results this season. We still have to work a little more, so that in Qatar we are a bit closer to the fastest riders and can learn from the experience of those who up at the front in every race."

TITO RABAT #1 - Moto2

"Being part of the Estrella Galicia 0,0 - Marc VDS team Moto2 is an opportunity to continue growing as a rider because, although it is difficult to win, it is even more difficult to stay on top. This year the talent level in the series will increase, and this will force us to evolve in both the sporting and technical side. We will have to work hard but this is something that motivates me; testing went very well and I feel fitter than ever, so we will go step-by-step but keep the same enthusiasm as always. It is difficult to know who the strongest riders this season will be, since in testing we cannot draw definitive conclusions. What I am sure of is that the level will continue to increase and there will be many rivals willing to go all-out. This season I have a Moto3 World Champion alongside me, and clearly he will be a strong opponent in the fight to be at the top. I have to focus on my own work to achieve the best possible results -both on the days when things are going well and when difficulties arise."

ALEX MARQUEZ #73 - Moto2

"Being part of a structure like this motivates me as I begin a new season, in which I will continue with Estrella Galicia 0,0 but change crew and category. No one has said that this will be easy, and we have to work hard because starting out in Moto2 is always tough. However, we must keep calm because the results always come. The goal is to learn and prepare for the 2016 season, but we must not rule anything out yet. We think we can fight for the podium from mid-season onwards and perhaps win a race; it could happen sooner or later than forecast, but we’ll only get there by working hard. Having Tito Rabat alongside me motivates me, helps me and gives me tranquility; I can access his telemetry and that is a guarantee when the pressure to get results is on him. This will allow me to treat each race as if it were my last and, in times like this where you feel more liberated, you can enjoy every Grand Prix to the fullest."

"It is my pleasure to be a part of Team Estrella Galicia 0,0. I competed with the Junior Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 outfit last season in the FIM CEV Repsol and won the championship with them, so it's nice to remain with Estrella Galicia 0,0 and Monlau Repsol Technical School this season. I’m sure it will help me grow as a rider. In testing we have achieved very good results; I felt at ease both in Valencia and Jerez, but the best thing was the bike, with which I felt very comfortable and which allowed us to be very strong. This year my goal is to learn the new circuits and enjoy the season, but I would still like to achieve good results at the Grands Prix in Spain and especially in France."

“It’s like a dream come true to be here at this presentation today. Joining this structure also means added responsibility, but I think I'm ready for this important challenge. I have a great team behind me in Team Estrella Galicia 0,0. We have an excellent bike and are supported by some big sponsors, so we have to work very hard from the word go to repay the trust placed in us with good results."

Emilio Alzamora - Team Principal - Team Estrella Galicia 0,0

"Today is a very special day for Team Estrella Galicia 0,0, for Monlau Repsol Technical School and for Marc VDS, because we have presented a project that has taken a year-and-a-half of work. Our collaboration has created a structure in which young hopefuls will find opportunities to reach the pinnacle of MotoGP. For Monlau Repsol Technical School, this project will be a test -not only for the riders but for the mechanics and engineers who will gain work experience with us. It will serve as a springboard for them to make the leap into the job market. Monlau Repsol Technical School has spent 16 years working actively in foundation classes, and five years ago we took the step up to World Championship level with Marc Marquez. From this came the idea of Estrella Galicia 0,0 and Marc VDS joining forces, to make a complete structure that covers all levels from the foundation series to the premier class."

Michael Bartolemy - Team Principal - Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS

"The presentation was great. It's something we had been looking forward to seeing for about 20 months. Just over a year ago we had a meeting with the directors of Estrella Galicia 0,0, and from there the project was born. Today, as a result, we have twelve riders competing in five different categories. In my opinion this team is the best structure in the world for bringing young talent through to MotoGP. Today the two strongest teams in the paddock have joined together, along with an outstanding main sponsor, so I think today is a very happy day for Estrella Galicia 0,0, Monlau Repsol Technical School and Marc VDS and also for motorcycle racing in general."

Ignacio Rivera - CEO Hijos de Rivera SAU

"Never in my wildest dreams had we aspired to what we have seen presented here today. We are all very excited and within the company we have a lot of self confidence from seeing ourselves close to much older groups than ourselves. For us it was an easy decision to back foundation motorcycle racing, because without a big budget to invest in the most prominent stars we directed our efforts on starting from the bottom to get to the top -with the Estrella Galicia 0,0 riders whom we have helped to develop."

Whatever they are doing on the business/financial/organizational side looks exemplary. Great job securing solid rider talent and good bikes. Alcohol free beer on the livery but actually funded by real beer.

Well played Marc VDS!
