2023 Portimão Moto3 Practice 3 Result: Ortolá Takes Over Lap Record

By Zara Daniela | Sat, 25/03/2023 - 09:22

Before the day’s schedule starts to get more unfamiliar, the lightweight class enjoyed their usual third practice session, albeit in a shortened version focused on fighting for a precious spot in Q2. Although Friday’s leader, Dani Holgado, held onto top spot on the combined standings for much of proceedings, Ivan Ortolá attacked in the final seven minutes and improved the all time lap record with the only 1:46 time of the morning. Jose Antonio Rueda came within a tenth of a second of the leader, with compatriot David Muñoz in third.

P1 leader Diogo Moreira and P2 leader Holgado rounded out a KTM-exclusive top five covered by two tenths of a second, with Kaito Toba and Ayumu Sasaki not too far behind. Jaume Masia, Ryusei Yamanaka and David Alonso completed the top 10, while the remaining tickets to Q2 were secured by Stefano Nepa, Joel Kelso, David Salvador and Deniz Öncü. Xavi Artigas missed out by a mere hundredth of a second and will have company from the likes of Tatsuki Suzuki, Riccardo Rossi, Scott Ogden and Romano Fenati in Q1 later today.
