It was easy to make mistakes in the cold damp conditions of the final free practice session but with a dry line appearing slicks were the preferred choice for the premier class straight away. Friday’s leader, Jack Miller, featured at the top of the timing screens for much of Saturday morning as well but eventually handed the lead over to Maverick Viñales, by almost three tenths of a second. While Miller was pushing his bike down pitlane, Pecco Bagnaia robbed him of second place as well – the Italian also suffering a mechanical issue earlier in the session.
Marc Marquez was not too tempted to leave the warmth of his garage but joined the action once the sun came out and secured fourth place, half a second off the lead. Aleix Espargaro completed the top five, ahead of Franco Morbidelli, Jorge Martin and Johann Zarco, with Fabio Quartararo and Luca Marini rounding out a top 10 covered by seven tenths of a second. Despite the challenging conditions, Marco Bezzecchi was the only rider to sample the gravel, with a very early tumble at turn 10 on his outlap and decided to sit out the rest of the session to spare his bikes for qualifying.
