Results of World Superbike Race 2 at Assen:
Noriyuki Haga dominated the second Superbike race at Assen to take a commanding lead in the championship. Ben Spies led away from the line and was starting to build a big lead, until he lost the front going into Madijk and had a very big crash. Spies' crash handed Haga the lead, and from that moment, the Xerox Ducati rider ran away with the race. Behind Haga, Max Neukirchner held second until the German was bundled off track going into the Ruskenhoek corner. Luckily, the inside of that corner is paved, and Neukirchner was able to rejoin, but by that time Neukirchner had lost touch with the leaders.
Leon Haslam took 10 laps to get past Michel Fabrizio, and the podium looked settled, as Jakub Smrz could follow Fabrizio, but not pass. But in the final corner, Fabrizio made a mistake, allowing Smrz to pass, and giving the Czech his first podium, and the Guandalini Ducati team a much-needed boost.

haga will finally win the world title
on a silver platter, courtesy of ben spies.
ben and the yamaha clearly have the better pure speed over nori and the duc, but the struggle against being a series rookie on new tracks, tyres, and bike will see him give too many wins to haga and give up too many points to the kitty-litter.
hard to believe that the infamous "nitro" nori will win his title in the calculated manner of an accountant, sorta like wayne rainey!
