Cal Crutchlow once again topped the timesheets at Monza, taking provisional pole for Sunday's World Superbike races. This time, though, the Sterilgarda Yamaha rider didn't wait until the last minute to take top spot, and was fast from much earlier in the session. HANNSPree Ten Kate's Johnny Rea was 2nd quickest in the qualifying session, finishing comfortably ahead of Xerox Ducati's Michel Fabrizio. Troy Corser confirmed the progress that the BMW Motorrad team has made, setting the 4th quickest time on the BMW S1000RR, just ahead of the current championship leader, Leon Haslam.

2-3 seconds off the pace? Has Ducati Corsa stopped supplying them wtith the good oil? Has the factory team gotten tired of being shown up?
And poor Haga.. he's turned into the least inspiring Ducati pilot since Marco Melandri.
Haga
Prior to the season starting I wondered how much emotionally his battles with Spies took out of him last year. I mean he was up by a nice margin only to see it slip away in what many thought was "his year". I felt like maybe he had put that notion to rest in Valenica but I have to wonder how strong his motivation to win is this year. Maybe it's just the bike and the team not being able to get a good setup but I think it just may have at least a little to do with what's between his ears.
