Simone Corsi set the fastest time at the debut of the Moto2 class at the Sachsenring, putting his Motobi ahead of the FIMMCO Speed Up of Gabor Talmacsi by over two tenths of a second, a significant margin at the short German circuit. Alex Baldolini set the third fastest time on the Caretta Technologies ICP, finishing ahead of Julian Simon on the Mapfre Aspar bike. Simon, along with a number of other Suter riders, has a revised chassis in Germany. The Swiss chassis builder is not alone, though, as the MZ has a new frame and swingarm, and the Promoharris bikes have a completely revised fairing package, which Kenny Noyes unfortunately managed to completely destroy in a crash. The Moto2 practice was plagued by crashes, with Toni Elias managing to crash twice in the space of ten minutes, but ending up 5th on the grid.

"ELIAS CRASHED TWICE IN TEN MINUTES AND STILL MANAGED TO MAKE 5TH"
That'a boy!!
feeder class to GP?
I know it's a tight track and a short lap but Marques' time in 125 is just over half a second shy of championship leader Elias' in fifth. That time of 1'26.826" is nearly three and a half seconds off Simoncellis track record on a 250.
It was mentioned the other day that the GSXR750 engine would make a good replacement, which I think is a great idea but why not open it up to all 750 four strokes?..say, keep the spec ECU and allow them a fresh engine every other round.
750, like 500 has a nice ring about it and plenty of history in bike racing.
Imagine an RC45 motor running on state of the art chassis with no rider aids.
