Results and summary of Superpole at Imola:
Superpole 1
Cal Crutchlow was the fastest rider in a wet Superpole 1 session, ending comfortably ahead of Shane Byrne and Leon Haslam. Crutchlow's teammate James Toseland had much less luck, the Brit being bumped out of Superpole in the final seconds. Johnny Rea just struggled through in 16th, after a nasty low-speed highside saw Rea hurt his shoulder.
Out after Superpole 1: James Toseland, Roger Lee Hayden, Fabrizio Lai, Federico Sandi

Superpole 2
A crash-strewn session saw Cal Crutchlow, Shane Byrne, Carlos Checa and Ruben Xaus all fall, the rain causing a great many problems for the remaining 16 riders in Superpole 2. The session became incredibly chaotic, with the top spot being swapped every few seconds, Lorenzo Lanzi ending the second session of Superpole on top of the timesheets, ahead of Troy Coser and Tom Sykes. Superpole 2 saw many of the favorites eliminated, with fastest man of the weekend so far, Carlos Checa, just edged out, along with Cal Crutchlow, Johnny Rea and Noriyuki Haga.

Superpole 3
The rain stopped falling in the final session of Superpole. Leon Haslam took an early lead, cannily following Lorenzo Lanzi round in the early minutes, Lanzi having been fastest in Superpole 2. Haslam was knocked off pole by Tom Sykes, the PBM Kawasaki rider holding on to secure his first ever pole on the Kawasaki, a great result given the way the Kawasaki has struggled all year. Jakub Smrz secured 2nd spot on the grid, though he threatened to depose Sykes a couple of times, coming just five hundredtsh short. Leon Haslam got an advantage over his main rival for the title Max Biaggi, Haslam setting the 3rd fastest time and starting from the front row, while Biaggi could only manage the 7th fastest time, and will start directly behind Haslam.

Great!
Good thing for Kawasaki winning superpole. I hope it stays dry for Sundays races.
Anyone know the forecast?
Gonna be a good race...
With all these fast riders mid pack at the start this should make for a fantastic race tomorrow!
My money is on Leon (figuratively speaking).
Jonny Rea
MCN is saying that JR has a broken scaphoid and collarbone...

Wow. As a Kawaksaki rider I will remember this day since it is a rare one to see a green bike starting from pole. Good job by Sykes. Looks like Biaggi is doing just what he needs to and JT seems to still be underperforming like he has for awhile now.
