Results for Superpole at the Magny-Cours World Superbike round as they come in:
Superpole 1
Alitalia Aprilia's Max Biaggi came out punching in Superpole 1, shooting straight to the top of the timesheets with the fastest time of the weekend, just a smidgeon outside of the 1'37 bracket. Sylvain Guintoli once again put on a good show for his home crowd, setting the 2nd fastest time and then retiring to the pits. Sterilgarda Yamaha's Cal Crutchlow spent a worryingly long time in the danger zone before putting in a hot lap good enough to go through to Superpole 2 with five minutes to go. Crutchlow was later bumped from 3rd spot by another blistering lap by PBM Kawasaki's Tom Sykes, who shot to 2nd. Xerox Ducati's Michel Fabrizio and BMW's Troy Corser also interposed themselves, taking 3rd and 5th spot respectively.
Out after Superpole 1: Max Neukirchner, Ian Lowry, Matteo Baiocco, Fabrizio Lai

Superpole 3
Cal Crutchlow has taken pole for Sunday's final round of World Superbikes at Magny-Cours on Sunday. The Sterilgarda Yamaha rider was fast early in the final session of Superpole, and nobody was capable of matching his pace. Crutchlow beat out local hero Sylvain Guintoli, who came within seven hundredths of Crutchlow's time, along with the Aprilias of Jakub Smrz and Max Biaggi. The second row of the grid consists of a trio of Ducatis interspersed with a solitary Honda, Johnny Rea setting the 6th fastest time despite still suffering with injuries sustained at Imola, interposing his Ten Kate bike between Michel Fabrizio in 5th and Carlos Checa and Nori Haga in 7th and 8th respectively.

Is Toseland done?
Does JT have anything left in the tank? Is it lingering injuries, lack of confidence, or lack of fire? Not trying to bash him, just puzzled at how far he's fallen in 3 years.

i hate to ask but to me the question is more: how the heck did JT manage two WSBK championships? I'm still scratching my head about those, especially the 2007 one. i have seen him ride really well but that always seemed to have been the exception...

I'm truly amazed that Rae made it back and did this well. i think I'd be happier with checa taking 3rd overall but not through losing Rae to injury.
also i think the superpole reflects who we'll see fighting at the front. maybe swap haslam and smrtz... (:
Toseland
re: popmonkey
Two years ago I really thought JT was the real deal. Superb with Ten Kate in WSBK then that 2nd place qualifying in his debut GP in Qatar.... but something has gone very wrong.
I dunno what it is but I ache for a Brit to consistently get up at the sharp end and I honestly thought JT was up to the task.
As a fellow Donny lad I hope he can turn things around but I feel that his opportunities are running out.
I guess you're forgetting
I guess you're forgetting about guys like Haslam, Crutchlow or any of the other Brits who are tons more likable than JT. He certainly didn't make himself well liked last year on the Tech 3 team with his results or what he did off the track and unless he dramatically changes things I suspect his better days of racing are well behind him.
But what a Piano player!! :)
