2010 Motegi Moto2 Qualifying Practice Result - Comfortable Pole Taken With Time To Spare

By David Emmett | Sat, 02/10/2010 - 07:29

Summary and results of Moto2 qualifying at Motegi:

Julian Simon has confirmed his strong form at Motegi, taking pole position by a comfortable margin for tomorrow's Moto2 race. The Mapfre Aspar rider took over the top spot from Gresini's Toni Elias with 7 minutes of the session left, and never relinquished pole again. Marc VDS' Scott Redding will start from 2nd on the grid, but the young Englishman was nearly three tenths slower than polesitter Simon. Yuki Takahashi brought more good news for the Tech 3 team, the Japanese rider ending the session in 3rd, while the man who held on to provisional pole - and looks likely to become the first ever Moto2 champion in the next race or two - rounds out the front row, Toni Elias lucky to sneak back into 4th with just seconds of the session to go.
