2013 Assen Moto3 QP Result: Fractions Decide Pole

Summary and results of Moto3 qualifying:

Moto3 qualifying for the Dutch TT at Assen has been decided by the smallest of margins. The hectic proceedings at the cathedral of motorcycle racing gave a great indication as to how exciting racing at the high velocity circuit can be if the conditions stay dry.

Miguel Oliveira headed the time sheets with a lap time of 1:43.588, providing Indian manufacturer Mahindra with their first ever dry pole position. The session was unbelievably close as second placed rider Alex Marquez set an identical lap time to Oliveira. However as his second fastest time was not as quick, he had to be content with second place. Fellow Spaniard Maverick Vinales rounds out the front row.

Luis Salom and Alex Rins ended the session in fourth and fifth positions respectively, both riders finished only eight hundredths of a second behind the pole time. Mapfre Aspar rider Jonas Folger completes the second row. Niklas Ajo, Isaac Vinales and Arthur Sissis make up the third row of the grid for Saturday's race, which if qualifying is anything to go by, should be an absolutely cracking event.
