After a windy start to the final Moto3 test of the season, Romano Fenati ended the first day in Jerez at the top of the timesheets. The Team Sky VR46 rider topped two of the three sessions for the Moto3 class, ending the day a tenth of a second ahead of Karel Hanika. The young Czech rookie continues to impress on his debut in the class, finishing ahead of his teammate and title favorite Jack Miller, while Danny Kent took 4th on the Husqvarna.
Efren Vazquez was the fastest of the Hondas, the Racing Team Germany rider just under half a second off the pace of Fenati. The Hondas of Estrella Galicia teammates Alex Marquez and Alex Rins were not far behind, Marquez three hundredths slower than Vazquez, Rins nine hundredths slower.

Woooo
Go Fenny5!!!
As I have said time after
my money is on Karel Hanika
Jack Miller for me!
Saw Jack interviewed on the coverage of the Troy Bayliss Classic dirt track event recently, where Jack did quite well, and he impressed as a laid-back, matter-of-fact kind of kid, with a really good attitude. Last year he was quick on the Honda which had zero development dollars thrown at it, and he looks even quicker this year on the KTM. Hanika looks quick right out of the box.
Go Jack!
Kent. Why?
I think I missed a meeting where it was explained to everyone else why Danny Kent returned to Moto3, even with K-Husqvarna. I thought I'd read he had a contract in moto2, I think with Tech3.
Am I dreaming?
Danny Kent
He did have a Moto2 contract with Tech3, but has moved back down. I'm not sure that the Mistral has had much development and appears to have little funding. Bradley Smith's results on the bike look more and more like a sterling effort and you can see why Herve rates him. Could be a good Motomatters article on the development of the Tech3 Mistral with the team David, if you can get the access?
I'm not sure it's a good step for Kent though. Expectations will be high and anything less than a top three championship finish will be frowned upon in the paddock. How many Moto3 race winners are still in the class this year - looks like about four or five?
