Fifteen Laps at Aragon, warming up a few degrees from the World Superbike race, World Supersport gave us the tough fighting we expect from the class.
Florian Marino took an early lead but made a few mistakes and lost the lead Michael Van Der Mark with Kev Coghlan, Jules Cluzel and Kenan Sofuoglu following over the next few laps.
Michael Van Der Mark goes wide at the end of the straight, out-braking himself, letting the duelling pair of Jules Cluzel and Kev Coghlan past, but recovering before Kenan Sofuoglu was able to snatch third.
On the tenth lap, Jules Cluzel led the pack of four riders, with Kev Coghlan snapping at his heels while Kenan Sofuoglu hounded Michael Van Der Mark with the rest of the field four seconds behind. Sofuoglu and Van Der Mark swapped places a couple of times and as Cluzel passed Coghlan and was repassed, Sofuoglu passed Van Der Mark at the end of the straight.
Two laps from the end, as Sofuoglu closed down the leading duo, Coghlan held the lead into the hard braking area at the end of the straight and Cluzel tried to carry speed underneath him but instead clipped Coghlan's rear wheel with his front, sending them both off the track and letting Sofuoglu take the lead.
Cluzel walked away from the crash as Coghlan kept hold of his clutch throughout and somehow managed to run round and get back on.
Kenan Sofuoglu spent the remainder of his tyres and metronomically ticked off corner after corner, not giving Van Der Mark a chance to close the growing gap, and he took the win, joined on the podium by Van Der Mark and a grateful Florian Marino.
Coghlan managed to rescue a fifth place behind Lorenzo Zanetti and took the title lead.
