The World Supersport race would be seventeen laps on a windy track at 22ºC.
Jules Cluzel would lead from pole position until Kenan Sofuoglu staked his claim on the victory on the second lap and Lorenzo Zanetti, quick all weekend, got past Cluzel and settled in behind Sofuoglu.
As assorted riders fell off, including Kev Coghlan at the back of the front pack, Kenan Sofuoglu dragged Lorenzo Zanetti away from the riders behind them. Jules Cluzel headed the charging pack of PJ Jacobsen, Florian Marino and Michael Van Der Mark. Marino and Van Der Mark pushed Jacobsen to sixth, but on lap six, Jules Cluzel ran off the track, riding at the limits of the MV Agusta to keep with the Hondas and Kawasakis, and dropping back substantially.
Michael Van Der Mark overtook Florian Marino, taking three attempts in a lap to make it stick, and the front six settled into their places for a quiet mid-race parade. Jules Cluzel tried to inject a little interest by crashing again, and he would eventually recover to fifteenth place.
On lap thirteen, after having extended his lead to a comfortable two seconds over Lorenzo Zanetti, Kenan Sofuoglu pulled into the pits at the end of the lap, gifting the lead to Zanetti with a mechanical failure.
Zanetti held his lead over Van Der Mark who in turn was safe from Marino, with Jacobsen out of a podium place a few seconds back. And white flags were waved.
With two laps remaining, white flags with red crosses showed up and unexpected drops of rain were reported in sector two. However, the surprise rain didn't slow anyone down and Lorenzo Zanetti took his first World Supersport win at his home round ahead of his teammate Michael Van Der Mark who now shares the championship lead with third placed Florian Marino.
And Kenan Sofuoglu's fated year takes another blow.
