2014 Mugello MotoGP FP2 Results: Pirro Tops Sodden Session

The second MotoGP Free Practice session at Mugello was all but washed out as intermittent rain fell throughout. Michele Pirro set the quickest lap of the session in the final seconds with a time of 2:05.435, some seventeen seconds slower than Marquez' morning benchmark. Nicky Hayden was the first rider to venture out on track equipped with wet tires and any real purpose, he ended up second on the time sheets. Alvaro Bautista and Hiroshi Aoyama were the only other riders to register official laps and consequently rounded out the top four.

For the majority of the hour long session the conditions were suitable for currently unavailable 'intermediate' tires, riders spent more time fulfilling their media commitments than risk pushing for any kind of flying lap.
