Johann Zarco grabbed his third-consecutive pole position Saturday at the Sachsenring circuit just beating second-place qualifier Xavier Simeon by a mere eight-hundredths of a second. Franco Morbidelli continuted his strong weekend form to take the third position on the front row.
Zarco's 1'24.044 is the fastest-ever Moto2 lap at the 3.7 km (2.2 mi.) track which is one of the tightest and slowest tracks in the series. Less than a second separates the top 19 riders.
Thomas Luthi, three tenths of a second from the leader, took fourth-fastest followed by Simone Corsi (5th) and current world champion Tito Rabat (6th) who grabbed the final spot on the second row.
Zarco leads Rabat by 45 points in the 2015 championship.
