2015 Jerez World Supersport Race Results: Notable Through Absence

By Jared Earle | Sun, 20/09/2015 - 10:38

With Jules Cluzel out of the race this weekend, it would fall to PJ Jacobsen to keep championship leader Kenan Sofuoglu in check.

Kenan Sofuoglu got the start he wanted from pole position, with PJ Jacobsen fighting off Lucas Mahias, Gino Rea and Lorenzo Zanetti.

Early on, Lucas Mahias's bike let him down and he had to abandon it at the side of the track. Gino Rea also couldn't capitalise on his good start and ended up crashing his bike on lap eight after a few good fights.

Managing his lead, Kenan Sofuoglu was unassailable ahead of PJ Jacobsen and Lorenzo Zanetti, making the race less interesting than we've come used to, Jules Cluzel's absence notable at the front of the pack. The fight for fourth place would provide the on-track entertainment, with Kyle Smith scything sideways past Nico Terol in a protracted scrap.

Leading by a second after the first lap and never letting anyone get close to him, Kenan Sofuoglu took a dominant victory ahead of PJ Jacobsen and Lorenzo Zanetti and increased his championship lead to 32 points over Jacobsen who took second place off Cluzel by five points.
