2022 Catalunya World Superbike Race Two Result: Settled Before The End

World Superbike's last race of the weekend once again avoided the rain. The temperature was climbing and would once again punish the tyres.

Alvaro Bautista got the lead into turn one from pole position, ahead of Michael Ruben Rinaldi and Jonathan Rea who overtook Toprak Razgatlioglu around the outside into turn two. Alex Lowes, showing solid pace all weekend, crashed out at turn ten as Jonathan Rea stared at his front tyre. Scott Redding crashed at the last corner of the first lap.

Lap two, Bautista led Rinaldi, Rea and Razgatlioglu. Behind them, Axel Bassani held off Xavi Vierge, Andrea Locatelli and Iker Lecuona. Lap two, Iker Lecuona set a fastest lap of 1'42.357 in eighth place as Alvaro Bautista had a lead of over a second from his teammate Rinaldi. Axel Bassani faced his way past Razgatlioglu and took third off Rea in turn ten, but at turn eleven, Rea struck back, taking second place at the start of lap three but Rinaldi's drive out of turn three and into turn four put him back ahead of Rea.

Andrea Locatelli crashed out at turn ten as Alvaro Bautista set a 1'42.357 fastest lap. Bassani wedged under Rea top take third place to put three Ducatis in front of the six-time world champion. 

At the start of lap six, after Bautista set another fastest lap - a 1'42.181, Bautista had a lead over two seconds over Rinaldi and Bassani. Behind the Ducatis, Rea led Razgatliolgu with Vierge over a second behind them. Bassani tried some tight passes on Rinaldi, but Rinaldi made himself difficult to pass. Bassani finally got past at the hairpin to lead the group of Rinaldi, Rea and Razgatlioglu, three and a half seconds behind Bautista. Eight laps in. Rea probed for a way past Rinaldi, all over the back of Hin into corners, but Rinaldi had the jump out of corners. 

Jonathan Rea stuck a pass under Michael Ruben Rinaldi at turn ten, but Rinaldi powered past Rea down the finish straight. Rinaldi build on his pace to briefly hold second place five seconds behind Bautista at the turn ten hairpin and took it back down the straight. Rea got sucked in to outbrake himself into turn one and went wide, letting Razgatlioglu take fourth place from him. 

At half race distance, Bautista led Rinaldi and Bassani by over five seconds, with Razgatlioglu and Rea behind the three Ducatis. Almost three seconds off Rea, the Hondas of Xavi Vierge and Iker Lecuona. Garrett Gerloff walked away from a turn two crash.

Lap thirteen and Bautista led by over six seconds, with the four-rider group behind him covered by under a second. Every lap he was the fastest man on track, increasing his lead every lap. Axel Bassani made a mistake into turn twelve and Razgatlioglu went underneath the wide bike, and Rea followed as Bassani had to stick to a wider line. Down the straight, Rea pulled alongside Razgatlioglu and Bassani and snuck underneath both of them into turn one to take third place behind Rinaldi.

Rea and Razgatlioglu started to break away from Bassani whose tyre looked like it was starting to go away from him. Rea and Razgatlioglu were also closing on second-placed Rinaldi as they put over a second between them and Bassani. Razgatlioglu and Bassani both took advantage of Rea making a mistake going wide into turn seven to both pass him, but Rea took fourth back off Bassani down the straight to start lap seventeen. 

With two laps left, Alvaro Bautista led Michael Ruben Rinaldi and Toprak Razgatlioglu by over nine seconds with Jonathan Rea almost two seconds further back, having left Axel Bassani over two seconds behind him. A lap later, the gaps extended with Bautista leading by almost ten seconds at the front and Rinaldi almost a second clear of Razgatlioglu. 

Alvaro Bautista won by eight seconds after he took a few seconds to celebrate his first triple win of the season down the straight, dancing over the finish line. Michael Ruben Rinaldi finished second, the first one-two of the season, after a processional handful of last laps, with Toprak Razgatlioglu taking the last step of the podium a second ahead of Jonathan Rea. Axel Bassani was over five seconds behind Rea and four seconds from Xavi Vierge.

Alvaro Bautista predictably extended his lead over Toprak Razgatlioglu to fifty nine points with Michael Ruben Rinaldi's second place holding off Bautista's title rivals. Razgatlioglu's podium increased his lead over Jonathan Rea to eight points.

2022 Catalunya World Supersport Race Two Result: Full Race Distance

World Supersport race two started under warm conditions with Dominique Aegerter and Lorenzo Baldassarri lining up on the same softer SCX tyre with everyone else on a harder tyre.

Federico Caricasulo got the holeshot ahead of Can Oncu and Nicolo Bulega. On the exit of turn four, Can Oncu took the lead from Caricasulo. Dominique Aegerter led Lorenzo Baldassarri in fifth and sixth place. At the start of lap three Caricasulo took the lead into turn one and Yari Montella took second place off him into turn five. Stefano Manzi set the fastest lap, a 1'46.321 climbing to eighth place. Federico Caricasulo got pushed aside into turn one and riders took their turns to pass him as he tried to recover, slower than everyone else throughout the first turns. Glenn van Straalen crashed out from the pack as the leading twenty riders remained in a group.

Can Oncu led Lorenzo Baldassari, Yari Montella, Adrian Huertas, Dominique Aegerter and fifteen others as Can Oncu set the fastest lap of 1'45.746. The leading sixteen riders were squeezed into three seconds. Five laps completed, Domonique Aegerter set the fastest lap in fourth place, a 1'45.386, as a gap started to form between Aegerter and fifth-placed Stefano Manzi. Aegerter climbed to third place, passing Montella to catch Oncu and Baldassarri.

Lap seven and Baldassarri took the lead into turn one, passing Oncu outside down the straight. Manzi jumped the gap from fifth place to catch Montella, leaving Federico Caricasulo to lead the second pack in sixth place.

At the lead of the five-rider leading group, Oncu took the lead back into turn one, followed by Aegerter to push Baldassarri into third place, ahead of Manzi and Montella. 

At half race distance, Can Oncu led Lorenzo Baldassarri, Dominique Aegerter and Stefano Manzi with Federico Caricasulo over a second behind, heading the second group. Aegerter took second place cleanly into turn one. The fight for fifth place was Caricasulo, Niki Tuuli, Yari Montella and Bahattin Sofuoglu. 

Aegerter led over the line to start lap eleven, but Baldassarri used the slipstream to pass the two bikes in front of him, but Oncu went round both of them to take the lead. Baldassarri passed Oncu a few turns later. Lap twelve and the leading four were covered by well under two tenths of a second as Aegerter overshot turn one to lose a second to Baldassarri, Oncu and Manzi in front of him. Can Oncu took the lead from Baldassarri as Aegerter closed up on Manzi at the back of the leading trip, closing a sixth of a second in one sector.

Lap fourteen and the leading four bikes were covered by just half a second, and Oncu nearly locked his front wheel, causing Manzi to dodge, but the group didn't lose any time. Manzi took second place and tried to make a pass on Baldassarri, but couldn't take the lead. Lap fifteen and Aegerter slipstreamed down the straight to leapfrog to third place, only outbraved by Can Oncu in the lead. Aegerter passed Oncu at turn four and started to push for a break. 

Down the straight to start lap sixteen, Aegerter was only a third of a second clear of Oncu's Kawasaki, Manzi's Triumph and Baldassarri's Yamaha, but a lap later, Aegerter pulled a further third of a second on his rivals. Baldassarri looked like he couldn't keep up with Oncu and Manzi ahead of him, dropping to a second off the leading trio by lap seventeen. Manzi and Oncu swapped back and forth as Aegerter started the lap over a second clear of Manzi and Oncu as Baldassarri's tyre gave up over a second further back.

Can Oncu tried several times to pass Stefano Manzi but he couldn't make a pass work; Manzi however touched the green paint wide exiting turn nine, potentially giving Oncu second place on paper, but not on track.

Dominique Aegerter won by two seconds ahead of Can Oncu and Stefano Manzi, the track limit excursion dropping Manzi to third place. Lorenzo Baldassarri was two further seconds in a lonely fourth place, four and a half seconds from Federico Caricasulo and Niki Tuuli. Caricasulo was also penalised for a green paint infraction, giving fifth place to Tuuli.

Dominique Aegerter's twelfth win extended his lead over Lorenzo Baldassarri to thirty six points with Baldassarri's fourth place. Can Oncu's second place lifted him to third place in the championship, overtaking Nicolo Bulega who could only manage fourteenth place. Stefano Manzi remains in fifth place in the championship, thirty seven points off fourth place and thirty points clear of Yari Montella's sixth place.

2022 Catalunya World Superbike Superpole Race Result: Spend All Your Tyres

The World Superbike Superpole race would be ten mostly dry, cool laps with a lot less tyre management required. Michael van der Mark had a long lap penalty from yesterday's incident with Luca Bernardi.

Ominously, Alvaro Bautista led Jonathan Rea into turn one with Toprak Razgatlioglu in eleventh place. Alex Lowes passed Andrea Locatelli for third place then Rea for second. Iker Lecuona slipped under Locatelli and the pair crashed out on lap one. 

Bautista led Lowes and Rea after the first lap, a second ahead of Michael Ruben Rinaldi and a hard-charging Razgatlioglu. Bautista set a 1'41.135 on lap two with Lowes lapping within five hundredths of a second.

At the start of lap four, Xavi Vierge held off Philipp Oettl, Axel Bassani and Scott Redding in sixth place behind the Rinaldi and Razgatlioglu scrap. On lap five, Razgatlioglu was close enough down the straight to outbrake Rinaldi to take fourth place from him, over two seconds behind Bautista, Lowes and Rea. 

At half race distance, Vierge still led Oettl and Redding in the fight for sixth. At the front, Bautista started to tease out a lead over Lowes and Rea and Razgatlioglu broke free of Rinaldi in fourth place.

Eight laps in, Bautista's lead was over a second over Lowes and Rea with Razgatlioglu and Rinaldi almost three seconds further back. At the start of the last lap, Jonathan Rea passed Alex Lowes into turn one to take second place remarkably easily from his teammate. Toprak Razgatlioglu was over three seconds further back with Rinaldi almost four seconds further back. 

Alvaro Bautista won the race having led all ten laps from a second row start, putting himself on pole position for this afternoon's race, alongside Jonathan Rea and Alex Lowes, but the podium was briefly declared provisional only to be confirmed a minute later. Toprak Razgatlioglu headed the second row with Michael Ruben Rinaldi and Philipp Oettl. Xavi Vierge led Scott Redding and Loris Baz on the third row, but a crash put Vierge's teammate, pole sitter Iker Lecuona, off the front three rows.

Alvaro Bautista stretched his lead a few points more over Toprak Razgatlioglu as Jonathan Rea closed up again, with Bautista fifty points over Razgatlioglu and fifty five over Rea.

2022 Motegi MotoGP Race Result: Remarkable Returns To The Rostrum, With A Hint Of Title Drama

A surprisingly bright Motegi greeted the premier class on Sunday but the 24-lap race wasn’t shaping up to be a lazy lie-down in the sun, with the rebellious outsiders on the front row and the title contenders spread throughout the pack by the heavy rain on Saturday. In the end the drama didn’t quite unfold in the way we expected, but Jack Miller won’t have minded for a second, the Australian making a fast start and soon dominating proceedings to secure an impeccable first victory of the season. The Ducati man became the sixth different winner in 2022, which unfortunately also meant the return of the dreaded shoey. Brad Binder did his first front row start justice with a last lap attack for second, which returned him to the podium for the first time since the opening night in Qatar. Jorge Martin added another Ducati to the podium, in another bittersweet Sunday for the Italian factory – but more on that later.

As a taster of things to come, the warm-up lap saw Aleix Espargaro shaking his head in disbelief and entering pitlane instead of taking his spot on the grid. There was little time to clear the confusion as the lights went off and Brad Binder’s lightning start stole the show, the South African taking the lead from poleman Marc Marquez into the first corner. A cautions Marquez allowed Martin to get past at turn two and the Pramac man went on to lead the way by the end of the opening lap, while Marquez continued his early struggles, encouraging Miller and Miguel Oliveira to sweep past as well. Marquez wasn’t the only rider losing ground early on, as fellow front row starter Johann Zarco dropped to seventh after a poor start, behind Maverick Viñales. Meanwhile, amongst the title contenders, Fabio Quartararo held station in eighth position, ahead of Pol Espargaro and Luca Marini, with Pecco Bagnaia climbing into 11th, ahead of a fast-starting Alex Rins and with Enea Bastianini also making up some places early on. The replays also soon clarified that an electronic problem had prompted Aleix Espargaro’s impromptu trip through pitlane to change bikes, the Aprilia man joining the race at the back of the field, eight seconds behind the leader.

Back at the front, Martin was untroubled early on, but Miller was making fast progress and was up to second by the third lap, attacking Martin just one lap later to take the lead. The two Ducatis had a slight advantage ahead of the factory KTMs and the Honda of Marquez, while Viñales dropped almost a second behind the four leaders in the early stages, holding back a sizeable group. The group included most of the title contenders, but outside of the top eight, with Quartararo unable to fend off Marini, while Bagnaia was under pressure from Bastianini in the early battle for 11th position.

By lap six, a rampant Miller had quickly extended a half second advantage over Martin, who in turn had almost two seconds on Oliveira, Binder and Marquez. Marquez’s soft rear gamble didn’t seem to pay off early on, the Honda man losing tenths here and there on the KTMs, but was under little threat from behind, where Viñales was struggling to close the 1.5 seconds gap to his compatriot and focused on fending off the Ducati of Marini. A tough lap eight for Zarco dropped the Frenchman down to 14th position, after running wide on a couple of occasions, allowing Quartararo to get back 8th place, but the world champion was at the helm of a feisty group including Pol Espargaro, Bagnaia, Bastianini and Marco Bezzecchi. Meanwhile, Aleix Espargaro was still outside the top 20 but not unrealistically far from point-scoring positions.

Back at the front, Miller kept the fastest laps rolling, building a buffer of over a second and a half over Martin by lap 10, which suddenly doubled one lap later, helped by a mistake from the Spaniard. However, Martin also had a two-second advantage over the friendly fire between Binder and Oliveira, with Marquez biding his time behind the familiarly orange machines. If there were few changes at the top end early on, the halfway point saw Marini overhaul Viñales to claim sixth position, while Quartararo was also closing in on the Spaniard and Bastianini and Bagnaia had joined the top 10 not too far back.

The next few laps weren’t particularly eventful at the front, with the top three men separated by significant gaps and Marquez sniffing around Oliveira but struggling to find a gap and presumably starting to struggle with his fitness as well. On the other hand, it was quite eventful for the Suzuki squad, with Takuya Tsuda’s machine catching fire on lap 12 and Rins retiring three laps later with some yet-mysterious tech issues – an unfortunate farewell on home soil.

With five laps remaining, it looked like we might finally get some more action in the battle for second, where Martin seemed to suffer and was dropping back towards Binder, as well as the fight for seventh, where Viñales was reeled in by Quartararo, and a familiar squabble for ninth, between Bagnaia and Bastianini, rising the tension in the Ducati garage once more. However, the first move came from Marquez, the Spaniard finally attacking Oliveira at turn nine to claim fourth with three laps to go, showing some surprisingly solid late pace to fend off Oliveira and Marini in the closing stages. Binder soon followed his example to demote Martin at turn one, at the start of the final lap, giving the Spaniard no chance to retaliate.

Miller was long gone by this point and the three podium men took the chequered flag with no more drama. Marquez secured fourth, some three and a half seconds later, while Oliveira and Marini traded blows throughout the final lap, with the KTM man eventually taking fifth. Viñales resisted late pressure from Quartararo to keep seventh position, although things were close to ending in disaster for the Frenchman, when Bagnaia saw a gap at turn nine and lost control very close to the Yamaha’s rear tyre. Bagnaia's last lap crash allowed Bastianini to inherit ninth place, with Bezzecchi rounding out the top 10. Although Espargaro benefitted from his rival’s late misfortune to climb into 16th place, he was over six seconds behind the final point-scoring position.

Although the title contenders had nothing to do with the fight for victory this time around, Quartararo’s lowkey race to eighth place allowed him to extend his lead in the championship to 18 points over Bagnaia, with Espargaro dropping 25 points back. Bastianini conceded only one point, but with a deficit of 49 points, he is running out of time to mount a proper challenge.

2022 Motegi Moto2 Race Result: A Comeback To Rewrite History

Even if the lightweight class race looked a lot more promising for the local crowds at the end of Saturday, it ultimately came down to the intermediate class to reward them with a home victory. Fans were in for a threat, as Ai Ogura made a fine comeback from the fifth row of the grid to take his third victory of the season and the first for a Japanese rider at Motegi in 16 years. Rival Augusto Fernandez just about held onto the lead in the world championship, also working his way through the pack and settling for second, while compatriot Alonso Lopez scored his third successive podium.

The start of the 22-lap race had a slightly different cast, with poleman Aron Canet making a solid start to keep top spot ahead of Fermín Aldeguer and Somkiat Chantra. Cameron Beaubier was soon up to fourth ahead of Tony Arbolino, with Ogura making a rocket launch to climb into sixth, ahead of Jake Dixon and Lopez. Meanwhile, Fernandez progressed one place to 10th and teammate Pedro Acosta was up to 14th on the opening lap.

Back at the front, Canet and Aldeguer stretched a one second gap over the opening lap, but the rookie was struggling to keep up the hot pace of the poleman and soon crashed out of second position at turn five, which left Canet with an advantage of almost two seconds by lap three. However, the Spaniard’s pole curse continued, and he crashed out of the lead at turn nine only one lap later, leaving Chantra in charge of proceedings. It also meant that Ogura was suddenly in the battle for victory but having Lopez and Arbolino between himself and his leading teammate. Ogura joined the provisional podium positions by lap six, while Dixon led the two-man chase less than two seconds behind, ahead of Fernandez, and with Beaubier, Acosta, Jorge Navarro and Filip Salac making up the early top 10.

Back ahead, Lopez relieved Chantra of the lead on lap seven and Ogura soon followed suit following a mistake at turn five from the Thai rider, leaving Chantra under pressure from Arbolino. Meanwhile, Fernandez had gotten past Dixon and was quickly closing the gap to the leading four. While the order settled at the front, the cameras briefly moved to Celestino Vietti, who had made an underwhelming start from 22nd on the grid and eventually crashed out at the first corner on lap eight.

By lap 10, Lopez was keeping Ogura and Arbolino at arm’s length, while Chantra was already fading and allowing Fernandez to take fourth, one second (and closing) behind the leading trio. A mistake from Lopez at turn five allowed Ogura to catch up one lap later, but the Spaniard’s lead was secure for a couple more laps. Meanwhile, all eyes were on the battle for third, where Fernandez demoted Arbolino, who soon lost another position to Dixon by running wide at the final corner – the Brit over two seconds behind the podium battle.

A feisty lap 13 saw Ogura and Lopez trading places several times, until the Japanese rider secured the lead at turn 11, but the shenanigans allowed Fernandez to join the party. While Fernandez looked for a way past Lopez, Ogura posted the fastest lap of the race to increase his advantage to a full second with eight laps remaining. Fernandez attacked only one lap later, but Lopez didn’t make it easy for his compatriot and the repeated attacks allowed Ogura’s gap to grow to 1.8 seconds by the time Fernandez settled the bill for second. Although the Spaniard matched the leader’s pace, it wasn’t enough to make significant inroads into his advantage, but it was more than enough to ditch Lopez, whose final podium position looked under threat from Dixon over the final handful of laps.

Back ahead, Fernandez robbed Ogura of the fastest lap, but top spot was still one and a half seconds away with five laps remaining. The duo continued to trade fastest times, but they were virtually inseparable on pace, which meant the gap never really budged. Ogura started the final lap one and a half seconds ahead of his title rival and more or less maintained that advantage to the finish line to secure victory. Lopez fended off Dixon to keep third, while Chantra completed the top five. Arbolino resisted Acosta’s late advances for sixth, with lonely rides for Albert Arenas and Bo Bendsneyder. The final top ten place was settled on the final lap, after Navarro crashed out and Salac overtook Beaubier to join the top 10.

Ogura’s victory brings him within two points of Fernandez in the world championship standings, while Canet drops 57 points back and Vietti an even more insurmountable 72 points.

2022 Motegi Moto3 Race Result: On The Crest Of A Wave

By the time the lightweight class lined up on the grid, there was no trace of Saturday’s weather woes, with clear blue skies accompanying riders throughout the 20-lap parage around Motegi. The consequences of that wet Saturday didn’t seem to affect Izan Guevara too much, the Spaniard going from ninth on the grid to a fifth victory of the season, half a second ahead of Dennis Foggia at the chequered flag. Another second later, Ayumu Sasaki secured his first back-to-back podiums in Moto3 and celebrated third on home soil.

Although Guevara stole the show soon after, it was teammate Sergio Garcia who held the limelight at the start of proceedings, after overhauling poleman Tatsuki Suzuki into turn one. Suzuki quickly retaliated and left the Spaniard under attack from a fast-starting Guevara, the championship leader leading the race by the end of the opening lap. Meanwhile, Garcia was under pressure from the Japanese duo of Suzuki and Sasaki and a couple of mistakes on the opening lap dropped the Spaniard another position, behind Foggia. Meanwhile, David Muñoz impressed at the start once more, moving into sixth position from 16th on the grid, and with Andrea Migno, Jaume Masia, Riccardo Rossi and Diogo Moreira making up the early top 10. Front row starter Scott Ogden lost a lot of ground on the opening lap, down to 12th, while Deniz Öncü’s mistake around turn three dropped him down to 25th – both riders out of the plotline for the Japanese GP early on.

Aided by fast lap times, Sasaki took a turn at the front on lap three, but Guevara responded straight away and the leading group, also including the Leopard Racing duo, seemed to stretch an early advantage over the chasing pack led by Garcia. The Spaniard had allowed the leaders almost a second by lap four and spent the next few laps trying to bridge that gap once more, showing the way to Masia, Muñoz, Moreira, Migno, McPhee and Rossi.

Sasaki had another go at leadership on lap five, just as Suzuki crashed out of lead group at turn nine, leaving his leading compatriot in the company of Guevara and Foggia, while Masia was lending a helping hand to Garcia in trying to close the distance to the podium battle. The Red Bull KTM man flashed a series of red-hot sector times to join the leaders just a couple laps later, however, Masia’s speed wasn’t that much help to his compatriot, Garcia unable to keep up and dropping two seconds behind by lap eight, in a lonely fifth place. Despite a track limits warning, Moreira led the pursuit another second back, ahead of McPhee and Muñoz.

Back at the front, Sasaki went unchallenged until lap 10, when Guevara attacked at turn nine and took the lead heading into the second half of the race, but the Japanese rider responded one lap later to resume control. Foggia and Masia were still in the mix but biding their time for an attack on the duo ahead, and eventually trading places with eight laps remaining, when Masia attacked Foggia. Meanwhile, Garcia had really lost touch and dropped four seconds behind the leading foursome, while being reeled in by Moreira, Muñoz and McPhee. The challenge from Moreira came at turn three, the rookie snatching fifth with eight laps remaining, but the Aspar man wasn’t too keen to lose more points and got back through on the next lap – the exchanges between the duo continuing for the next couple of laps.

Although the four leaders kept within close proximity of each other, the battle didn’t hot up until the final five laps, when Guevara had another go at the lead at turn three. Sasaki couldn’t respond straight away this time around and got swamped by Masia and Foggia with four laps remaining. Just as the Japanese rider dropped out of podium positions, he found himself back onto it, when a big high side for Masia took the Spaniard out of contention at turn 12. Foggia inherited second and the podium seemed settled with four laps remaining, although the gaps between the trio weren’t unsurmountable. Over seven seconds behind, Garcia wasn’t having an easy time dealing with McPhee, Muñoz and Moreira – the four men frequently trading places.

If Garcia had a challenge on his hands in the closing stages, teammate Guevara entered the final lap with Foggia and Sasaki at arm’s length and the distance between the trio was just enough to avoid any changes to the chequered flag. Garcia successfully defended fourth from Muñoz, while Moreira claimed sixth over McPhee on the final lap. Ryusei Yamanaka, Migno and Rossi rounded out the top 10 positions.

Guevara leaves a complicated weekend in Japan with an advantage of 45 points over Garcia in the world championship standings, while Foggia loses further ground, 63 points behind the leader.

2022 Catalunya World Supersport Race One Result: Red Flag, Sprint Race

With good weather setting up for the nineteen lap race, unfortunately the red flags would come out after just one lap.

Federico Caricasulo took the lead into turn one, ahead of Nicolo Bulega and Dominique Aegerter. Peter Sebestyen crashed out into turn one. Nicolo Bulega took the lead from Federico Caricasulo and as Aegerter slipped through for second, pushing Caricasulo off the apex, Can Oncu followed him through into third place. After one lap, the race was red flagged for Sebestyen's bike catching fire on the run off for turn one. The penalty run off was covered in fire extinguisher foam and burning bike, making it unsafe for racing.

The race restart would be twelve laps after a Quickstart procedure with the same grid as before.

Federico Caricasulo once again took the lead into turn one, ahead of Can Oncu who switched under Nicolo Bulega into turn one to take second place. Lorenzo Baldassarri pipped Dominique Aegerter to fourth place as Can Oncu and Caricasulo swapped back and forth a couple of times. 

Lorenzo Baldassarri took the lead into turn one as Can Oncu missed his turn and dropped back to sixth, taking fifth off Adrian Huertas in a typically aggressive manner.

Dominique Aegerter set the fastest lap, a 1'46.075, on lap two.Into turn one, Federico Caricasulo took the lead off Baldassarri as Dominique Aegerter in third place went wide, holding his position in spite of a slide. Can Oncu in fourth place set the fastest lap a lap later with a 1'45.944, and riders went into turn one almost four abreast as everyone behind Caricasulo in the lead tripped each other up fighting for second. 

At the start of lap five, Caricasulo led Aegerter until turn one and Oncu followed Aegerter to push Caricasulo to third. Nicolo Bulega made a move into fourth but he lost the front, almost saving it for what seemed like several minutes before he finally fell off. 

Once Dominique Aegerter took the lead, he set a fastest lap of 1'45.157, breaking free from Can Oncu with rabbit in his blood. Can Oncu was equidistant between Aegerter and Baldassarri with Caricasulo and Bahattin Sofuoglu on his heels. 

Seven laps of twelve down, Dominique Aegerter led Can Oncu by a second and a half with Lorenzo Baldassarri, Federico Caricasulo and Bahattin Sofuoglu within striking distance. A lap later, Aegerter's lead was two seconds as Oncu had to fight off Baldassarri and Caricasulo behind him. Oncu lost second place to Baldassarri on lap nine, but Oncu and Caricasulo passed Baldassarri into turn one, and a lap later Caricasulo took second place into turn one but Oncu held third place from Baldassarri. Baldassarri took third place a few turns later.

At the start of the last lap, Dominique Aegerter led Lorenzo Baldassarri by four seconds, with Can Oncu and Federico Caricasulo in his wake, having taken second place from the other two in the clean air behind them down the straight. Oncu tried a long outbreak manoeuvre into turn ten, but it was from too far back and he compromised the last sector of the lap.

Dominique Aegerter cut his lead to three and a half seconds as he showboated over the line, ahead of Lorenzo Baldassarri. Can Oncu held the last podium spot from Federico Caricasulo a quarter of a second off second place. Bahattin Sofuoglu on the MV Agusta took fifth place almost a second behind.

After the twelve lap sprint race, Dominique Aegerter extended his lead by five points to twenty four points over Lorenzo Baldassarri who kept his title fight alive in second place. Can Oncu moved closer to third place in the title fight, taking advantage of Nicolo Bulega's DNF.
