Despite the threat of poor weather, the 2017 season has got underway at Qatar on a dry track and with no threat of rain, as yet. The Moto3 riders were the first to take to the track, with KTM rider Bo Bendsneyder leading for most of the session. The Dutchman was only bounced from the top of the standings at the very end, when first Joan Mir, and then Phillip Oettl took over at the top.
Oettl ended the session fastest, though still a second and a half off the circuit record time. Mir finished in second, a quarter of a second behind the German, while Gabriel Rodrigo put his KTM into third spot. Juanfran Guevara ended the session in fourth place, ahead of the returning Romano Fenati, who also had a strong first session. Bendsneyder eventually ended up with the seventh fastest time, within half a second of Oettl.

Öttl
I presume the Dorna guys use the "oe" spelling due to poblematic rendering of umlauts in their various onscreen popups etc. I don't think that this should be an issue for your website layout, so can I request for you to use the proper spelling of Öttl's name, please? I get that most non-umlaut language speakers don't care about the difference, but there is one. Oettl is not his name. Same with Marcel Schrötter. Schrotter is a different word and not even pronounced the same way.
