Joan Mir has topped the first session of practice for the Moto3 class in Argentina. The Moto3 class were first to take to the track, and found a track which was still dirty and dusty, though not quite as bad as in recent years. The dirty track meant that times were well off race pace, Mir's best time of 1'51.559 over 2.6 seconds slower than the fastest race lap.
Gabriel Rodridgo ended the session in second, an incredibly impressive performance given that he broke his collarbone two weeks ago in Qatar, and had surgery to fix it last week. No doubt boosted by riding at his home Grand Prix, the Argentinian rider ended just two tenths behind Mir.
Nicolo Bulega set the third fastest time of the day, jumping up the timesheets at the end of the session, and finishing just ahead of Juanfran Guevara, Gabriel Rodrigo's teammate. Romano Fenati set the fifth fastest time ahead of Livio Loi, while Enea Bastianini set his best result so far this year with the seventh quickest time.
