The contenders that announced themselves on Friday were still on top on Saturday morning but with some other names than the EG 0,0 duo making the headlines. As the riders focused on race settings, there were very few changes throughout the top ten during the session.
Simone Corsi enjoyed some more time in the limelight by leading the session after the first run, with Takaaki Nakagami taking over mid-session. Italy got one back with Mattia Pasini following Franco Morbidelli around the track to grab top spot. Pasini improved even further on his own, being the first and only rider to break into the 1:51s and post the fastest time of the weekend.
Nakagami and Corsi kept second and third positions, followed by Franco Morbidelli almost three tenths down on Pasini. Alex Marquez was one of the few riders to not improve on his Friday benchmark, the Spaniard finishing fifth and half a second off the leader.
Xavi Vierge made a late jump into sixth, pushing back Axel Pons and Miguel Oliveira – both failing to improve as their rivals put it a quali run in the final minutes. The top ten was completed by Luca Marini and Tom Luthi, with Pecco Bagnaia close behind and over seven tenths off Pasini’s top time.
