Pecco Bagnaia has underlined why there is so much interest in him from MotoGP teams by topping the first day of the Moto2 test in Jerez. The Sky Racing VR46 Team rider topped both dry sessions, the lunchtime session seeing very little action on a wet track.
Alex Marquez, back on track for the first time like Bagnaia, ended the day in second nn the Marc VDS Kalex, under two tenths slower than the Italian, but ahead of Mattia Pasini on the Italtrans bike. Miguel Oliveira was the fastest KTM, the Red Bull rider a quarter of a second slower than Bagnaia. Lorenzo Baldassarri, who had impressed at the Valencia test, finished Monday in fifth, ahead of his former teammate Luca Marini.

Pecco doesn't play around.
Pecco doesn't play around.
Also interesting that he's classified by his nickname.
Testing or not, judging by his upward trajectory last year, and the way he started this one, he's one of the title contenders.
Between Pecco, Binder, Oliveira, Marquez and Pasini, this year could be a tight fight.
Fenati doesn't seem to be all too slow, but his problem was not so much a lack of speed, but his lack of consistency.
Quartararo is the most confusing one, other than the fact that he is on a Speed Up, there's no reason for him to be languishing. We've all seen his flashed of brilliance in Moto2 and are wondering what exactly went sour.
Hopefuly Lowes will find more speed once the real racing gets under way.
Quartararo
Agree. I've seen some incredible rides from him. I'm thinking it's just a matter of time and maturity.
And look at all those kids
And look at all those kids from Rossi's Ranch up near the front of Moto2 here.
Morbidelli - lots of eyes on you lately too eh?
It is good to see a graceful transition to team manager and bigger training program coordinator for Vale shaping up.
