2018 Sepang Moto3 FP1 Result: Atiratphuvapat Out Front

Nakarin Atiratphuvapat took advantage of a wet track to set the fastest time in the first practice Friday at the Sepang round of Moto3. The Thai rider’s 2:25.290 put him a tenth of a second in front of Aron Canet two-tenths clear of championship contender Marco Bezzecchi.

The mixed conditions meant that many riders took their time getting out on the track. Championship leader Jorge Martin skipped most of the session and conpleted just a handful of laps to set the 16th-fastest time. Honda riders Tony Arbolino and Adam Norrodin set the fourth and fifth fastest laps but all of the riders were well off the last year's fastest dry-track laps at the long, 5.5 km (3.4 mi.) track. 

Track conditions were drying in advance of the afternoon's FP2.
