2018 Jerez WorldSBK Test Tuesday 2:30pm Times: Rea Quickest, Lowes Leads Bautista

A dry night meant the WorldSBK riders got underway much earlier on Tuesday, the riders taking to the track some time around 10:30am under sunny skies if chilly temperatures. The work from yesterday continues, the Yamahas, Ducatis, and Kawasakis circulating in preparation of the 2019 season.

Jonathan Rea is fastest, much as you would expect, as he continues to work on refining the 2019 Kawasaki ZX-10R. Alex Lowes is currently second quickest on the Pata Yamaha, two thirds of a second behind the Kawasaki. Alvaro Bautista is quickest on the Ducati Panigale V4R, the Spaniard looking completely at home on the new bike.

Of note is that Ducati have a bunch of roadgoing Panigale V4Rs being prepared for the launch of the bike at the track on Friday. Ducati's road tester Alessandro Valia is lapping on the bikes, checking them over ahead of the launch, and setting a benchmark for the journalists who will be coming to the track. His time - 6 seconds off Jonathan Rea, and 4.5 seconds slower than Bautista, currently - is a sign of just how quick that bike can be in the hands of a capable rider.
