After the drama of Race 1 and the post-race drama that followed, the final battle in the MotoE class promised a dramatic resolution to the season-long title battle. With both of the remaining contenders starting on the front row, Bradley Smith had only one mission – to win – if he was to stand a chance at the title in cold and windy Valencia. The British rider made a promising start, taking turn one in top position and leaving Matteo Ferrari to find a way past poleman Eric Granado. It proved quite a task and to add a complication to his title defence, Alex de Angelis and Hector Garzo joined the podium party soon after and were attacking the Italian.
At the half point of the race, Granado was catching up with leader Smith, while Garzo took over the chase, three second down on the victory battle and dropping Ferrari to fifth. Status quo was maintained until the final lap, when Granado attacked and a lap-long exchange ensued. Smith gave it a final go at the final turn but could not hold a tight line and Granado converted pole position into victory in the season finale. Smith settled for second, both in the race and the world cup, while Garzo completed the podium positions. Matteo Ferrari took the checkered flag in fifth and got to celebrate as the first MotoE world cup champion.
