Testing is underway again for the WorldSBK series, with the main protagonists assembled at the Circuit de Catalunya in Montmelo, near Barcelona. Scott Redding ended the day as fastest, the Aruba.it Ducati rider getting up to speed quickly again, finishing nearly two tenths faster than reigning champion Jonathan Rea on the Kawasaki.
Loris Baz was the quickest of the Yamahas, a quarter of a second behind Redding, and three tenths faster than Alex Lowes on the second Kawasaki. Alvaro Bautista was the fastest Honda rider, a fraction behind Lowes, while Tom Sykes was a little over a tenth off the time of Bautista on the BMW.
Of the WorldSSP Yamahas present, Jules Cluzel was quickest, four tenths faster than Steven Odendaal, while Corentin Perolari was further four tenths behind the South African.
Also present at the test were the Marc VDS Estrella Galicia 0,0 Moto2 team of Sam Lowes and Augusto Fernandez, riding track-prepped Yamaha R1s, in full Estrella Galicia regalia. Sam Lowes was 3.4 seconds slower on a production R1 than Loris Baz on the WorldSBK-spec race machine.

Back on track again
It is only testing but thanks for the good news MotoMatters!
Scott Redding seems to be riding well. Next Ducati is Chaz almost a second a lap slower. I'm assuming Chaz is not doing the same program as S.R.45. Thinking Davies is still refining his approach to the V4. Hope he gets his head around it.
Congratulations Loris Baz, fastest Yamaha, good to see. That should spur on the factory riders. Where is Toprak? Ahead of Magic Michael, Both a little off the pace, wonder why?
Tom Sykes quickest BMW; cool.
Alvaro fastest Honda by three quarters of a second. Seems the new RRRRRRRR fireblade is improving.
No Leon Camier at this test, could be a bad sign that his injury is continuing to trouble L.C.2. Damn it!
Augusto Fernandez on a hotted up R1. Welcome to (almost) superbikes Augusto Fernandez.
Q Tyre?
Is it known who (if any) set their fast times with the rear qualifying tyre, and who did it with a standard race tyre or the qualifying race tyre?
lowes to yamaha
lowes to yamaha
Alex was there last year.
Alex was there last year.
Did you mean Sam Lowes? There is no Yamaha Moto2 team as far as I'm aware
