2020 Jerez MotoE Race Result: No Rival In Sight

The MotoE World Cup provided the first taste of racing in Jerez and it was a pleasant reintroduction, with Eric Granado a dominant winner, crossing the line over three seconds ahead of his rivals. Lukas Tulovic very briefly got his revenge for the results of qualifying by taking the lead into turn 1 at the start, but the German did not make it too far into the lap before poleman Granado jumped ahead and disappeared into the distance. Fellow front row starter Dominique Aegerter lost ground on the first lap, which helped Matteo Ferrari to promptly join the podium battle.

With Granado having made his very early bid for victory, Tulovic was left to defend second position from Ferrari, Alejandro Medina, Jordi Torres, Aegerter and Mattia Casadei. Reigning champion Ferrari made his move on lap five, taking charge of the chasing pack, while Tulovic and Aegerter were left dicing for the final spot on the podium. Aegerter had the upper hand going into the final lap and defended well into the final sector to secure a podium on his debut in the class. Granado leaves the opening race as the championship leader, with Ferrari on track to defend his title and with class rookie Aegerter scoring solid points in the title battle.
