The rain scare from earlier today was completely gone by the time the intermediate class took to the track and it showed, with Friday’s benchmark quickly improved by several riders but most notably Marco Bezzecchi, the Italian keeping top spot until the checkered flag. Early leader Marcos Ramirez looked like his main rival throughout, but Hector Garzo snuck in between the two to grab second on the timesheets on his final flying lap and with a deluxe tow from championship leader Enea Bastianini.
Fabio Di Giannantonio was slower to warm up but when he did he climbed into fourth and within a tenth of a second of top spot. Sam Lowes also showed good speed to claim fifth but an odd high side at turn 9 in the final five minutes of FP3 saw him take a worrying trip to the medical centre for a check-up. Jorge Navarro and Luca Marini were the only two riders who failed to improve on their Friday times but both were safety inside the top 7 overall, while an impressive trio of Bo Bendsneyder, Nicolo Bulega and Marcel Schrotter rounded out the top 10 on the combined standings.
Stefano Manzi and Joe Roberts closed the top 10 of the session, both safety into Q2 despite a late crash for the American, while Bastianini had to navigate around all the yellow flags in the final five minutes of the session to rejoin the Q2 spots. Xavi Vierge was the last man to secure a position in the combined top 14 and the Spaniard was less than three tenths of a second slower than leader Bezzecchi. That left the likes of Remy Gardner, Aron Canet, Jorge Martin or Tom Luthi to fight it off in Q1, although all four men posted times within half a second of top spot.
