The final practice session for the MotoGP class proved quite an eventful afternoon for much of the field but the factory Yamaha men truly enjoyed their time on the playground, comfortably experimenting with different tyre options and fast on all of them. Fabio Quartararo had a tiny bit of an advantage on Maverick Viñales on both speed and rhythm but both men showed really strong pace throughout the session. Alex Rins was also in the top three mix from the start, although the Suzuki man ended the session in the gravel trap at turn five after a harmless tumble.
Takaaki Nakagami once again carried the flag for Honda, this time up to fourth place, ahead of Franco Morbidelli, who had a very late lap cancellation in FP3 and found himself suddenly in Q1. Pol Espargaro finished in a solid sixth place but the Spaniard was lucky to escape unharmed from a turn 7 incident - a cursed spot for Honda - while Joan Mir had a quietly rapid afternoon in seventh position. One man’s misfortune is another man’s luck, as Jack Miller got promoted into the combined top 10 by Morbidelli's mistake and celebrated it with eighth place in FP4, after missing out on the early part of the session due to his bike needing some attention.
Marc Marquez returned unharmed from his precautionary medical checks and did well to join the top nine with a drama-free session, but he did get to witness his teammate replicate his mistake at turn 7 in the closing stages of FP4. Miguel Oliveira rounded out the top ten ahead of teammate Brad Binder, while Aleix Espargaro dropped down to 12th after a tricky session bookended by crashes. Pecco Bagnaia in 13th spot was the final rider to post a time within a second of the leader.
