2021 Sachsenring Moto2 FP2 Result: Gardner Keeps It Going

It was a fairly unusual session to end the day for the intermediate class, who had to deal with a delayed start due to some grass being blown on track and then saw a short red flag after pit board signs flew all over the finish straight. Once clean-up was sorted, the session quickly resumed with Sam Lowes in prime position and with FP1 times under attack straight away. Remy Gardner might have been slower to improve but when he did, he took over the top of the timesheets and left teammate Raul Fernandez three tenths of a second behind. Fabio Di Giannantonio steadily progressed towards the top three, while Lowes dropped to fourth and could not improve in the closing stages due to a crash at turn 12.

Xavi Vierge completed the top 5, six tenths behind the leader and a mere three hundredths ahead of Augusto Fernandez. Simone Corsi snuck ahead of the Liqui Moli Intact GP duo of Marcel Schrotter and Tony Arbolino, while Tom Luthi makes a rare appearance in the top 10. Marcos Ramirez, Albert Arenas, Jorge Navarro and Marco Bezzecchi provisionally sit inside the combined top 14, with the likes of Joe Roberts, Bo Bendsneyder, Ai Ogura or Aron Canet hoping to change that come FP3.

Results:
