World Superbike Superpole was wet and cold, but the rain held off.
Leon Haslam opened the session with a 1'42.206 on his first flying lap, slower than Jonathan Rea's fastest time this morning. Rea replied on his second lap with a 1'41.550, with Alex Lowes half a second behind him as Haslam pitted in.
Rea then set a 1'41.252, approaching his morning's time as Lowes and Tom Sykes swapped second and third places, again half a second off Rea's time. Rea then set a 1'40.451, quickest by over a second, and then a 1'40.101 as fourth-quickest Leon Haslam crashed out and lost fourth place to Garrett Gerloff.
Jonathan Rea pitted in with three minutes left as other riders pitted out with fresh tyres. Toprak Razgatlioglu and Scott Redding languished in damp fifteenth and sixteenth places as the clock counted down. Michael van der Mark joined Gerloff and the five British riders in the top seven and the flag came out.
Scott Redding pulled a fast lap out of the bag and slipped into sixth place, two places ahead of his teammate Michael Ruben Rinaldi.
Jonathan Rea held on to pole position by over half a second from Michael van der Mark and Tom Sykes. Alex Lowes, over a second off pole headed the second row, ahead of Garrett Gerloff and Scott Redding. In spite of a crash, and ending over two seconds off pole position, Leon Haslam took seventh place ahead of Michael Ruben Rinaldi and Chaz Davies. Two BMWs ended the session on the front row, with Garrett Gerloff's Yamaha eight places ahead of Toprak Razgatlioglu's.
