For much of FP2, it was the Marc VDS squad in the limelight, until Jorge Navarro claimed top spot in the session by nearly half a second. That dropped early leader Sam Lowes to second on the timesheets, with rival Marco Bezzecchi sneaking ahead of Augusto Fernandez to join the top three. Remy Gardner kept close in fifth but only four thousandths of a second ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio. Raul Fernandez limited his running after suffering a hand injury in a training crash but was quick enough to claim seventh place over the 10 laps he did do and was the final rider posting a time within a second of the leader.
Speed Up replacement rider Fermín Aldeguer continues to impress, this time with eighth place in FP1 on home soil and with compatriots Hector Garzo and Albert Arenas rounding out the top 10 positions. Hafizh Syahrin, Xavi Vierge, Marcel Schrotter and Simone Corsi provisionally hold top 14 places, while Aron Canet dropped to 15th after a late crash at turn 12.
