2021 Mandalika World Superbike Superpole Result: Lowes And Haslam Unfit

World Superbike's first Superpole at the new Indonesian track would be missing Leon Haslam and Alex Lowes, Lowes ruled unfit after his qualifying crash and Haslam not having recovered enough from his recent surgery. The weather threatened to take part, 30ºC air temperatures with clouds keeping the track down to 44ºC, but the clouds might bring rain at some point during the day.

Axel Bassani set a 1'34.003 which held the top spot until Toprak Razgatlioglu set a 1'33.544, followed by Jonathan Rea, Scott Redding and Andrea Locatelli. Garrett Gerloff used a sprint race tyre in his first session, hoping to fit three sessions in.

Jonathan Rea and Scott Redding set out for their second session early, with six minutes remaining. Jonathan Rea set a 1'33.201 with Scott Redding under a tenth off his pace, but Toprak Razgatlioglu took a third of a second out of the pair with a 1'32.877, an unassailable lap.

Toprak Razgatlioglu took his third pole position of the year, ahead of Jonathan Rea and Scott Redding. Garrett Gerloff headed the second row, alongside Andrea Locatelli and Tom Sykes, who knocked Axel Bassani off the second row. Bassani lined up with Alvaro Bautista and Michael van der Mark on the third row.
