Six minutes in, Iker Lecuona crashed at turn three, bringing out the red flags. After a while, Lecuona got to his feet, assisted by marshals, and the track was cleared. Leon Camier made an appearance on two wheels, ferrying Lecuona back to his garage on a HRC scooter. He was declared fit after examination. Alvaro Bautista was quickest after the red flag, deposing Jonathan Rea and improving on his morning's time in the process. After fifteen minutes, Alvaro Bautista improved his lead, ahead of Jonathan Rea and Toprak Razgatlioglu.
With ten minutes left, Alvaro Bautista set the fastest lap of the day, a 1'34.382, ahead of Jonathan Rea. Alex Lowes pipped Toprak Razgatlipglu at the end of the session to take third place from him. Garrett Gerloff and Michael Ruben Rinaldi rounded out the top six and Iker Lecuona recovered from his crash to go ninth quickest.
Michael van der Mark was declared fit after this morning's session, but he is visibly limping to his bike and could only manage to go twentieth quickest. Eugene Laverty, after a crash at turn fifteen this morning did not make Free Practice two.
