The MotoGP teams took the chance to debut their first and only aerodynamics upgrade for the season, choosing to use a low-drag configuration at the high-speed Mugello. Yamaha and KTM used different fairings in pursuit of more speed and less drag.
Taka Nakagami ended the session fastest, ahead of Aleix Espargaro and Pecco Bagnaia.
