2022 Barcelona Moto3 FP3 Result: Foggia Returns To The Spotlight

The cooler conditions of Saturday morning in Barcelona helped riders make a difference on the timesheets early in FP3, but Friday’s benchmark stood until the fight for the precious top 14 hotted up in the closing stages of the session. Although both Aspar boys enjoyed stints at the top of the timing screens, it was Dennis Foggia who posted the first 1:47 time of the weekend to become the fastest man in practice, two tenths ahead of rival Sergio Garcia. Replacement rider David Salvador impressed in third, only three hundredths of a second slower than his championship leading compatriot and a hundredth ahead of rookie Daniel Holgado.

Jaume Masia rounded out the top five, with Andrea Migno and Lorenzo Fellon also within half a second of the leader. Tatsuki Suzuki snuck ahead of Izan Guevara by five thousandths of a second, the Spaniard dropping down the timesheets in the final time attack, despite showing solid pace throughout the session. Rookie Joel Kelso completed the top 10, while the remaining Q2 tickets were handed out to Matteo Bertelle, John McPhee, Deniz Öncü and Carlos Tatay. Ivan Ortolá missed out by nine thousandths of a second and will have company from the likes of Riccardo Rossi, Mario Aji, Kaito Toba and Xavier Artigas in the battle of Q1.
