Dominique Aegerter has extended his race winning streak to seven races in a row, taking a hard-fought win against Lorenzo Baldassarri in the second WorldSSP race. Baldassarri got a strong start, taking the lead on the first lap. Aegerter found himself stuck behind Yari Montella for the first third of the race, and finding himself with a second to make up on Baldassarri once he finally got through on Montella.
Aegerter hunted down Baldassarri over the next couple of laps, getting onto the back of the Italian and then biding his time as the pair broke away from the battle behind. Baldassarri looked to have the upper hand, easily controlling the Ten Kate rider. Aegerter launched his attack with two laps to go, firing his Yamaha up the inside of Baldassarri into Quercia, but running wide and letting the Italian back through. But Baldassarri had a moment on the exit of Tramonto as he tried to get the power down for the back straight, missing out on drive and allowing Aegerter to catch him down the straight and attack going into Turns 13 and 14, getting past to take the lead. From there, he held off the Italian to take victory and extend his lead in the championship.
Nicola Bulega finished third, after disposing of Yari Montella and the other riders battling for the final step on the podium. Stefan Manzi came out on top of that group, ending the race fourth, ahead of Can Öncü and Federico Caricasulo.

Getting good late
Has Aegerter tasted from the same cup as A Espargaro?
Both have reached new levels at ages where it doesn't usually happen.
Aegerter has dropped from the GP classes to achieve results he would never have dreamed of. 17 Supersport wins in a year and a half plus a couple of MotoE wins. His previous results have been solid, two Moto2 season 5th places on Suters, one win, 2 and 3 at Suzuka but nothing to indicate he could dominate a class like he is doing.
Great performance indeed
Wish he'd get out of Bulega's way once in a while, though ... I've always had a bit of a soft spot for the kid.
