2022 Buriram Moto3 Qualifying Result: In A League Of His Own

Perfect conditions with a hint of blue sky set the scene for the first qualifying battle of the day and pole position had a hint of sky blue as well, with Dennis Foggia dominating Q2 by almost three tenths of a second and securing another all time lap record. Best of the rest was Jaume Masia, who left it late to post a fast time but eventually made his return onto the front row of the grid in second position. Ayumu Sasaki continues his impressive run of results by completing the front row of the grid for tomorrow’s race.

Speaking of solid results, Stefano Nepa secures fourth, as the final rider to post a time within half a second of the poleman, while rookies Diogo Moreira and Dani Holgado complete the second row on their first visit to Buriram. Riccardo Rossi opens row three ahead of John McPhee and Ryusei Yamanaka, with Q1 graduate David Muñoz completing the top 10 positions.

The championship leader had a tricky Saturday in Thailand, Izan Guevara having to go through Q1 before settling for 11th position, in the middle of fourth row, ahead of Joel Kelso. Fellow Q1 escapees Taiyo Furusato and Lorenzo Fellon sandwich Andrea Migno on row five, with Deniz Öncü, Kaito Toba and Tatsuki Suzuki making up a rather underwhelming row six. On the topic of underwhelming performances, Sergio Garcia will be the first to admit that these couple of days in Thailand were not his best work, the Spaniard stuck in Q1 and having to start the race from the middle of seventh row, in between Adrian Fernandez and Elia Bartolini.
